I'm laughing at the board meltdown at this hiring. Moore is going to be an excellent coach. He has been under around coaching his whole life. His father was a coach and he played amazing college football under a great head coach (Chris Peterson). So he wasn't built to play in the NFL? So what, he can't coach now? Give the guy a chance.

I guess hiring of "so and so" would have been much better. "Yeah, awesome hiring!", though they've never even heard of their name before. haha

I'm not saying this is a bad hire I just wonder the implications for transitioning from "just another qb in the qb room" to running the qb room and the authority that requires. If it was a new team that's one thing but these guys have been competing the last few years but now he's running the show?

Seems like there may be an issue when he's trying to teach something and guys that we're throwing the ball next to him the year before can be like "yeah then why didn't you do that?"

Most likely not an issue but I feel like we clean house next year with a bad season so prob won't have an impact in that case

Yeah... Our new QB coach. I guess he suddenly developed an affection for the playbook he's tossing...

Though I'm good with the hire... you made me laugh... nice find, @Bleu Star .

Otoh, maybe he's saying to himself.... "what the hell am I looking at this for?... I already have it memorized anyhow."

Sean Mcvay started coaching in 2008.
Worked his way through NFL and college ranks from assistant positions to position coaching to OC to HC.
He EARNED his way up ..
McVay was a HS QB and family affiliated guy with NFL connections.
He graduated college on 2008 where he played WR.
He never held a position of note until 2014 when he was made OC by Jay Gruden.
He's young and very unproven. He had been a head coach at ZERO levels of football and has 3 years of coordinator experience for a middling Commanders team.

He had never worked for an NFL coach not named Gruden.

So , no, he isn't some grind your way to the top guy with great experience.
He was a young guy on Gruden's staff that he saw great potential in and kept giving him better jobs.

Moore isn't coming in as the Coordinator; he's the QB Coach. He's a young guy who coaches have loved and they believe he has what it takes to be a great coach.
Just like McVay he has impressed those around him.

Not a big deal. The problems are at the head coach and coordinator levels. Moore won't make much of a difference one way or another.

I don't know how Moore will be as a coach. But many thinnk that because he wasn't a good QB, he can't coach.

How many good NFL coaches were really good NFL players? Dick Lebeau is really the only one I can think of.

Yep, Moore is an expert in our scheme......a scheme that our own players (such as Dez) say is too simple and too predictable to be effective:facepalm:

You cant make this stuff up folks, you just cant:laugh:

Exactly and only Dez has the heart to come out and say it. I can only imagine what the players are saying in the locker room or when they hang out with each other. I know they bash the heck out of our scheme.

We have two young quarterbacks the last thing we need is an experienced coach who's seen all the mistakes who's seen all the little nuanced moves that need to be corrected before they turn into something.

Yeah we need a guy that comes right off the bench.

Someday I'm sure we'll find out that any coaches who didn't believe in Linehan system are out of here we'll replace them with a bunch of sheep. Yes Scott we love the 3rd down and 7 pass for 3 yards.
Yes Scott we know we just got 12 yards on that sweep but you're right there's no need to come back to it till the second half maybe.

Another Dunkirk loser. Quick question, how do you know more than the Cowboys do?

Because he has two eyes and a functioning brain. Unlike the nepotistic sentimental idiots who run this organization.

This is the type of move that an authoritarian regime makes. The defense of this is laughable. This organization continues to be run like a clown show.

But it is ... by definition... an authoritative regime.

Did you think this or any other franchise, or any business, is some kind of democracy?

Know who else's dad was a coach and has been around great players and coaches his entire life? The clapper. Hows that working out?

Dak needs someone with experience molding mechanics etc. Not some newbie the staff is familiar with.

If everything goes as planned, Jerry's going to make a HUGE investment in Dak in a couple of years. It's borderline shocking that he wouldn't find him the best QB coach money could buy to teach him, not a 1st year guy. Hopefully this works out

It would be shocking if it wasn't Jerry.

I would never hire a QB coach who’s never been a starting QB in the league. Moore has more experience riding the pine than being on the field. Just another move by Jerry that causes fans to be frustrated with him.

This is the stupidity of this ownership group.

Clear cracks in Prescott's game were on display this year, some of which are absolutely correctable with proper coaching. Now for all intents and purposes, the Jones' are behind Prescott and think he can be the QB of the future for this franchise.

So if you are backing that investment why would you not go out and get the most experienced, most competent QB coach you can find? Go out and get a guy that has a history of working with younger QBs.

No, instead they are going to potentially hire Moore, who is a Linehan favorite and Garrett favorite and they just want someone comfortable on their staff who will basically cowtail to their whims.

I skipped over this thread until now but I knew exactly what the posts would be. Dak Prescott called Moore a genius who helped him immensely even as a teammate. I know Romo has been very complementary as well. Whatever people think of Jerry, he pays top dollar for coaches and only gambles on young guys if they are considered to be extremely bright.

This is yet another move that will cause a lot of Internet complaining and a year from now the same people will say they knew it was a good move all along. A year ago the same Internet meme was that DeMarcus Lawrence couldn't stay healthy and needed to be cut.

Rumor is Moore is a smart guy. Hoping he had great success, but not gonna hold my breath.
