Another built in excuse for Garrett next season. Perfect.

I'm not sure how hiring coaches for the specific purpose of helping the team improve would actually be an excuse for not improving.

New coaches take time to implement systems, improvement happens after these systems are learned and embraced. That will not happen overnight nor across so many position areas affected.

Sometimes change leads to opposite of improvement, especially early and especially with first time coaches. Same with has been coaches too.

Garrett is the one hiring coaches and negotiating titles? Right.

Oh yeah. How'd it go after Callahan was no longer calling plays? (Hint: 12-4). But, yeah. Terrible decision

Because Jerry effectively banished Garrett to walk around in practice and said he didn’t want him touching the offense per Jerry’s own words.

There are no new systems to implement - the head coach and coordinators set the "system", and those coaches aren't changing. What the new coaches will be asked to do is improve the play of their charges within the system, not change it.

Improvement is not automatic nor guaranteed, if you can't understand that then this discussion is pointless.

Where did I suggest improvement is guaranteed? Perhaps you need to slow down and understand what you are reading before you respond to it.

Perhaps you need re-read the post that you responded to that started this waste of time dialog.

To wit, If there is no improvement then Garrett has an excuse next season because of mass exodus of assistants. Is this really that hard to comprehend?

I did, and your comment still make's no sense. The fact that there is no guarantee of success with new coaches doesn't give Garrett an excuse for not having success with new coaches. In fact, it actually removes excuses because he is the guy picking the coaches. Having hand picked coaches doesn't create excuses, it eliminates them.

Oh, a generic dismissal without saying anything - nice ploy. You get to pretend you've said something that makes sense without actually having to.

So, your belief is head coaches should never change assistant coaches? Do you think Garrett is the only head coach that does this, and if you don't think that do you believe every other head coach that changes assistants is being disloyal?

No I think it is a necessary change that happens. Messages get stale.

Garrett should have been out this year for sure and you could make a case after 2013 or 2015 if you want to because the message is stale and the team is stuck.

I think Garrett has loyalty to no one because that is what he has shown.

It seems a little contradictory to say these are necessary changes, but then accuse Garrett of a lack of loyalty. It comes across as disparaging Garrett for doing something that he should be doing.

Besides, every coach knows they are in a position where they can be terminated any year, and they actually expect it if the performance of the group they coach falls off. None take a job thinking or expecting a permanent position.

Many fans seem to think Garrett is too loyal - that he wont make changes at OC and DC out of loyalty, and that he held on to Wade Wilson so long out of loyalty. I guess there are always different perspectives.

Lest you think I'm just trying to prop up Garrett, I too think he should be terminated. I like the guy, and really hoped he would have more success than he's had, but he hasn't been able to maintain any consistency, and it almost seems like a crap shoot every year on how the season will go. Bottom line is he has had 7 1/2 years, and that's plenty of time.

There is no ploy, you are just unable or incapable of understanding my comments. Your argument is circular to support your stance. You are saying that a change of coaching assistants is proof against excuses for Garrett next season since he "hand picked" them. One, when has Garrett actually hand picked anything, coaches or players? And two, this goes against real life - when change is not successful due to timeliness, system unfamiliarity, injury, etc. the change itself is used to support reason to wait until these issues are resolved. Jerry/Stephen have used these arguments repeatedly during Garrett's entire tenure as rationale to retain him.

Expecting improvement to occur automatically or immediately is unrealistic. The change could produce worse results. Jerry/Stephen have always used these adverse scenarios to support keeping Garrett. 2 playoff appearances in 7 seasons is abysmal, yet Garrett is singularly protected and only his coaching assistants are ever changed/blamed. Who is the constant again?

Again, that you do not see or accept any of this history must mean you are new to the Cowboys. If you are not new, then let's just agree to disagree - you can place me on ignore or I can place you on ignore, that works too.

Amazing how all of these coaches are going. The morons that call 3 straight pass plays from inside the 5 and go cover 2 in the red zone are still here. Lead by the Clapper. A clown car of coaches.

Marc Colombo new OL coach, Miles Austin new WR coach, Kellen Moore new QB coach...David Buehler as the next special teams coach

Then Jerry should go all in and hire Romo as the new HC who calls his own plays.
