Final Dak thread - How many QBs in NFL would you want instead

Bro, Foles is not better than Dak. Honestly, that Eagles team is stacked, I wouldn't be surprised if they blowout NE. Which is why I won't probably watch the SuperBowl.

Tannehill is a better Quarterback at this stage. Multiple 4000 yard passing season while having no run game, till last year in spurts with Ajayi, or a decent offensive line.

Dude has taken shot may shots throughout his career yet never backed down.
FYI, if anyone brings up his last 1.25 year injury, watch the hit that caused it, Calais Campbell nails his knee. He missed last season due to not having surgery on said knee and said knee buckling while in TC.
My brother is a Dolphins fan. Tannehill is a checkdown king dude. Are you kidding me? In his wettest dream he would never put up numbers like Dak. He's got a lot of those yards in garbage time lol!

I can make the case for Dak Prescott over almost anyone in the NFL as a guy you build around. This isn't a zero sum game at this point. But there definitely aren't more than 6 or 7 unless you have an agenda based on opinion; not fact. NFL talent evaluators would have him in the top 10

I'm a dolphin fan too. His "check downs" are to Landry who ran a bunch of bubble screens and quick routes to get him the ball asap. Not to say Landry never ran mid to deep routes but Philbin and Gase designed a lot of quick plays to him due to his ability to get YAC. And the fact that the offensive line was built with Chaz Greens. Ask your brother about Dallas Thomas, Billy Turner, Jamil Douglas etc... Or Fat Albert never staying healthy.

His deep ball accuracy was overblown earlier on when he couldn't connect deep with Wallace. Yet, he had no issue connecting to guys like Hartline or Bess deep.
Sort of like daks accuracy issue with Dez yet his numbers were much better with others receivers.
We complain about Witten, but Miami would die for a dependable TE like him.

After Wallace, Tannehill lost that stigma he couldn't complete the deep ball, and last year he was pinpoint deadly with Stills.
You can say "well, RT has Landry, Stills and Parker, they can bail him out". True, his receivers are better, but tell me what good is having good receivers when your QB has to run for his life/take hits? Romo of 09-12 ring a bell?

Dak was placed in a great situation last year and took advantage of it. Ryan has yet to have an offensive line as half as good as the Cowboys line nor a RB that is as dynamic as Elliott. RT has his faults, he struggles with pocket awareness and has questionable decision making at times. That being said, I think he is a better passer than Dak as of right now. Take that as you will. I've watched both QBs. 14+ games a year for both. You tell me to choose between both for next year, I think I roll with RT. Tell me to pick a QB for the next 5 years, and I'll go Dak.

The progression of Ryan Tannehill has been wonderful to watch for those who look deeper. In the last two seasons, his deep ball has become one of the league’s best, so it should be no surprise he’s become a downfield master under Adam Gase.

With better defined routes, Tannehill’s accuracy soared. His overall accuracy of 64.1% was 4th in 2016, and his accuracy on throws of 20+ was 61.0%, The 2nd highest (only behind Derek Carr).

Despite suffering from some receiver drops, Tannehill’s accuracy and placement were astonishingly good. We’re talking throws that rival the ones Aaron Rodgers makes on a daily basis!

Ryan Tannehill is a really good quarterback, and though his deep passing lacks quantity, it easily makes up for it in quality. Dolphins fans should be highly pleased with the results their quarterback is producing, and in 2016 his downfield passing was one of the year’s absolute best.

This might be best way to sum up where we are with Dak. Taking all 32 teams and saying if Dak is better than their starter (or in case of Philly their backup)

Washington - Cousins - NO
Giants - Eli - Tie
Eagles - Wentz/Foles - NO to both
Bears - Trubisky - Yes
Packers - Rodgers - NO
Lions - Stafford - NO
Vikings - Keenum - Yes
Saints - Brees - NO
Falcons - Ryan - NO
Panthers - Cam - NO
SF - Garoppolo- NO
Seattle - Russel - NO
Rams - Goff - NO
Arizona - Skelton - Yes
Bucs - Jameis- NO
Bills - Tyrod - Yes
Dolphins - Tannehill/Cutler - Yes
Jets - McCown - NO
Pats - Brady - hahahaha
Bengals - Dalton - Yes
Browns - Kizer - Yes
Steelers - Roethlisberger - NO (this is who I want Dak to pattern his game after)
Ravens - Flacco - NO
Titans - Mariota - Tie
Texans - Watson - Yes (Don’t have enough info on Watson and haven’t seen if he can throw)
Jags - Bortles - Tie
Colts - Luck - NO (if Luck is healthy but Dak is better than Brisset.)
KC - Smith - NO
Denver - Lynch/Osweiler/Siemian - Yes
Oakland - Carr - NO
LA - Rivers - NO

So after that scan Dak is about 21st in the league. And anyone that begs to differ don’t use his rookie year numbers. I’m looking at decision making and arm talent. Find me video of Dak’s passes and decisions being better.
You want to discount the rookie season, because it makes your list look like crap. Decision making? How many ints did he throw year one? What did Geoff do year one?

Because I don’t use numbers when evaluating the QB for this exercise. Have you watched Jameis actually throw? He can really spin it. Bortles has a great arm but I think his decision making has been hurt by his failures the first 3 years. He lost his aggression yesterday.

You can’t tell me comparing videos of Dak and the other guys throwing you’d rather have Dak.

BTW Eli got benched so they could tank further. Then the players revolted and they had to put him back in.
Who cares if he can spin, plenty qbs can spin it...lol can they actually play the position

I 100 percent would take Dak over Bortles or Jameis.

Weeden could really throw a beautiful ball too. Let me guess you think he is better as well.

According to your logic, he's better than Brady...lol
Not really. Not using that as the ONLY barometer but his ability to perform this well in the playoffs an under extreme pressure is a very good indicator.

Once again it's not the only measuring tool but it's a great sign that he can perform at that level

Brady is the GOAT and has the hardware to prove it. Much more that qbr or passing ratings but you still need a decent one, demonstrate that you can throw medium to deep passes, do more than dink and dunk for your passer rating, read defenses, and perform admirably during the playoffs

Brady is the best dink and dunker in the history of the game. What makes him Goat is he is lethal when he HAS to throw deep. Or intermediate. Look at what they surround him with for receivers. Two small guys in amendola and eddlemen. And they carried 3 small pass catching rbs almost every year. His biggest target was gronk. People knew what was coming and still couldn't shut down the dink and dunk because he would burn them deep. The deep threat is what dak is missing right now. Teams are sitting on our short routes. Thus bease and Witten were taken out of the equation compared to 2016

Agreed! Brady also throws great deep and intermediate passes too. I was watching the game and that 3rd and 18 play was sweet there was also that flea flicker. Wow. Nice spiral and great velocity. He has one of the highest velocities in the NFL at 62mph

Patriots’ Tom Brady, still evolving at 40, is going deep like never before

By Adam Kilgore October 25, 2017
Tom Brady entered this year with little reason to modify his performance. In a ranking of humans with the least incentive to change, in fact, Gisele’s husband would rank somewhere near the top.

And yet, a close inspection of Brady, during another MVP-caliber year, reveals a quarterback amid personal evolution. Brady burnished his legend with short, precise passes to quicksilver receivers darting over the middle of the field. He became a master of manipulating defenses and spewing quick throws. This year, Brady has turned gunslinger, heaving bombs downfield with greater frequency than at any point in his 18-year career.

Brady’s penchant for deep throws is nothing short of a stylistic transformation. Last year, Brady attempted 49 passes thrown at least 20 yards in the air all season, according to data tracked by Pro Football Focus, which uses the 20-yard barrier to define deep passes. This season, he’s already tossed 40 deep passes, the most in the NFL.

Ourlads’ Guide to the NFL Draft is the only source that gives the number for the quarterback’s velocity at the NFL Combine. Velocity is measured by a radar gun in miles per hour.

Dak season was discredited because of Zeke all of last season,
senior year, his Heisman list year, looked exactly as he did this past season. It is his challenge with accuracy consistently, the same problem a lot of QB's have, including Keenum, that put him in the 4th ro

His Heisman list year was his Jr. year

He completed 66% of his passes his Sr year

It's clear you don't watch games including Dallas if you rather have Jameis over Dak. It's cool though everybody is entitled to their opinion even when wrong
