Which Cowboys great is missing from the Ring of Honor?

...But 17 players across the 58 years of the team’s history seems fairly limited. Yes, we can all be fairly certain that DeMarcus Ware, Tony Romo and Jason Witten will all see their names added to the group at some point. But are there others in the Cowboys’ illustrious past who warrant a place among the honored? I can think of at least five names who, at minimum, deserve consideration for inclusion. Let’s take a look at each one and see how they measure up...

...Martin was a bigger-than-life personality during the late 70’s when the Cowboys reigned supreme in the NFL. His 1977 season was the best season ever for a Cowboys defender and ranks among the best ever in the NFL:

  • 23 sacks in only 14 games (unofficially as the NFL did not keep sack records back then)
  • Recorded 83 tackles
  • Consensus 1st Team All Pro
  • Defensive Player of the Year
  • Super Bowl Co-MVP (with Randy White)...

If Haley got in the ROH, than I think Martin should be in there as well. Both were key factors in reaching 6 of the 8 SB's the Cowboys played in.

In 22 playoff games (starting 20), Martin recorded 17 sacks and 4 fumble recoveries.

Cool fact about Walls...he was the last player to have more than 10 INT's in a season, when he snagged 11 his rookie year in 1981.

Erik Williams.. yes he didnt have a long career and lost something after his accident. But he completely humiliated the greatest DL ever(reggie White). Michael Strahan even spoke about how horrible it was to go up against him in his HOF speech.

First of all I would never have put Charles Haley in the ROH. Loved his play here but he was a 49'er at heart not a Cowboy. Big no to Deion too! One thst should be there is Everson Walls. It's one of the main reasons he isn't in the HOF. Obviously Ware and Romo should be there eventually but if we're talking long gone players, Walls is my guy

Woody
Cowboy start to finish
The same guy in good times and bad
Played special teams
Safety/LB/Slot corner - his flex made the defense go
I remember his last season, he had an arm injury. He just dragged it along with him.

The long lost Jay Novacek. Many people do not understand how valuable Jay was to this team and how he was a key player during the early 90's dominance.

I probably wouldn't put Novacek in because of his limited years with Dallas, but Jerry did put Haley in there (who I wouldn't have either).

you guys have to have a high requirement, sadly the space is limited, luckily the team doesnt draft many winners or walk on, yes Romo should be considered, i dont know if he earned it. Tho i would say yes just for the fact the Jones boys screwed him over.
