Davenport might not be a household name – though NFL scouts from all across the league are salivating over his vast potential. The 6’7” 250-pound defender possesses freaky athleticism. His ability to move in space enables the versatile Davenport to function as a defensive end in a 4-3 and as an outside linebacker in a 3-4. He’d in theory be able to play for any team scheme-wise – whether it’s in a base look or in specialized sub-packages.

The casual fan may be scared away from his small school standing. However, when facing Power 5 competition (Baylor, Texas A&M, Arizona, Kansas State), Davenport accrued 3.0 sacks and 4.5 tackles-for-loss. Had he gone to a bigger school, we could be seeing him in the top-10. Regardless, he’ll stay in-state and be a huge addition for a Dallas defense in need of some pass-rushing talent.

Immense talent and plays with his hair on fire. He is a better long term prospect than Taco but Taco would see the field much more in 2018.

Probably wouldn't see the field a ton in 2018, but thats not really what Im looking for in a DE. I do think he would be able to log a decent snap count in his rookie year as an effort playee. Id be very happy with the pick because it moves us towards having a potentially dominant pass rush.

Im a big Taco supporter, but Im also very greedy when it comes to pass rushers

Wouldn't be against this depending who's left on the board.
Can never have enough pass rushers. Just keep rotating them in to play.
Davenport fits with Taco and Lawrence in a 3 player rotation. Davenport has the burst to line up in the wide gaps at RDE. If he plays as a rookie thats likely his bread and butter. Charlton is a more traditional 7 gap rusher. In 2018 with furthure development he could probably function more in a 6 gap or in the wider 8 and 9 gaps, but the 7 will always be his bread and butter. Davenport with development could line up and attack from every gap from 6 to 9. Those players are exceptionally rare. With development of Charlton and Davenport and Lawrence here long, Dallas would soon have a DE group that is the envy of the league

I can see it if we franchise Lawrence cause the F.O. is scared of his injury history.

Personally, I see Taco as a LDE for us. So, if Davenport is the ideal RDE for Rod, then it makes sense to go get him.

I am intrigued by the talent, but damn, the risk is massive on taking him.

this guy is listed all over the place...I would think around our spot is where he belongs...I honestly thing the team needs a Vea or some other DT first, but I would be pretty happy with another guy that can rush the passer

Pass...I wouldn't take him until the 2nd.

Most overrated player in the draft IMO. He's got a lot to learn.

Allen is the most overrated of them all.

Davenport at 19 is reasonable. Top 10 is not. He's got some Demarcus Ware in him.

he is incredibly raw but I love his size...Im a sucker for 6-7 DEs.
he was impressive senior bowl week.
An impressive combine and he could zoom up the board.

Davenport or Hurst?.....who'd you take?
I like'em both....soft lean to Davenport but I do like Hurst.

I could see it, as we love the Sparq deal or whatever, and he probably reminds Marinelli of Simien.

Demarcus Ware? Have you watched Davenport's tape? Over half his rushes are out of a 2 point stance.

I don't understand the 1st Round love at all.

Hurst by a landslide. He was top 5 amongst all DTs in run stops and pressures, against stronger opponents.

Did pretty well at senior bowl against good competition. He's got the tools and size to be RDE. Also he's relentless.
