Are the Browns really going to pass on Darnold?

Sign McCarron and draft Barley and Nelson at 1 and 4. Draft a QB in the 2nd, or even trade up in the late 1st depending who does/doesn’t go early...that’s what I would do. Build the rest of the team as strong as possible and have a options at QB.

I think if you got Barkley and Nelson you could make a very good argument that you got the two best players in the draft.

I was initially going to say to do that very thing but their OG spots are not too bad right now.

Would think OT or Center would be better for them but I don't think any player of those two positions is with a top ten pick at this time.

I disagree with most of you, I think Darnold will be just fine in the league once he gets some NFL coaching. That being said, I think the Browns should take Rosen. He's basically Matt Ryan 2.0 and that will provide plenty of stability and good play; yeah he's not the homerun pick but what that organization needs more than anything is stability and he'll provide that. I think Rosen, Mayfield and Darnold will all be starting QBs in this league and maybe Allen too if he doesn't bust. However, Rosen is easily the most ready to start at the moment and Cleveland's line is plenty good enough as is for a rookie to come start behind.

they could just traded for Cousins if they wanted a solid qb
at least with him they know what they are getting and he has been very good in stretches
they could trade for him and still got Barkley

Trade who? Cousins is a free agent...and his top four have already leaked, Browns are not one of the places he wants to play.

What if they built thru the draft as we suggest & acquired Foles who went on to lead them to a SB victory? Back to back first time franchise titles for a "backup" QB. He could even play himself in the Hollywood version. Now that would turn the football world on its head!!

if CLE goes w/ a veteran QB (Cousins, Bridgewater, Keenum, maybe Foles), they could do a whole lot of damage with this draft.

CLE has draft picks galore & money to burn.

Signing a vet QB means they could go Barkley #1, OL or trade down at #4 and STILL have the 1st pick of the 2nd round (#33 and possibly still #34).

If they had a competent front office, they could turn that franchise around. As a football fan, I envy the position they're in (just not how they got to that position lol)

but...Browns gonna Browns.

Actually their new GM, Dorsey is pretty good. He's brought in couple Green Bay executives......from what I've heard/read, Hue Jackson now has little or no input.

Crazy thing is...the Browns could actually use their first two picks in the top ten and they could then bundle their 3 2nd round picks and be worth 1400 points on the standard trade chart which would be enough to get to pick #8.

They may wanna call the Bucs. Heard they wanna move down pretty bad........

I love Allen's ceiling if he can reach it but the Browns are the last organization that should be taking such a big boom/bust guy. He needs to go to a stable organization that can fix his mechanics and teach him the game...that's not the Browns.

Browns gonna Browns tho

If they went that route I’d definitely take Barkley at 1 and then snag Nelson/Chubb/Fitzpatrick at 4 instead of trading back. Two corner piece players with fifth year options to continue building around.

Allen would be the quintessential Browns move. Take the high risk guy who has a big arm but wasn't all that productive in college completing less than 60% of his passes.

Aren't the Browns interested in Aj McCarrons?
Hue IIRC has spoken high of him.

Sign AJ, then draft two impact players at 1 and 4.

If I was them I'd rather have Rosen....but your way is fine.

I could see Rosen pull a Eli if drafted by the Browns.
Possible but I would risk it....that's how much I believe he would work for them. The fact that he could possibly pull an Eli only makes him more attractive as prospect to Cleveland...cuz it means he's smart and sensible enough to fear going to that organization.

Nah, shelf life of a RB is 4-5 years in reality. The browns will win 4-5 games a year with or without Barkley. RB isn't what it was in the 70's or 80's or 90's. It's just not that type of position anymore. Can't compare the situation to Elliot here, apples to oranges. Zeke will have his best years behind him in 4-5 years and QB's play 10-15 if you get the right one.

I like football, and I am completely floored that the Browns would be this stupid again. I thought finally; these guys will get a QB as they should have several times already, and finally they'll be stabilized on both sides of the ball, new regime, Fitzpatrick on D; and you know, that's good for football. I am really tired of watching the Ravens and Steelers on sunday night football because the Browns are inept. But no; it's too easy. They want to re-invent the wheel. I work with several Cleveland fans and they think this is beyond ******** - the notion of taking anyone but Darnold at one especially a RB who had several subpar games being overlooked. I am glad I'm not crazy.
Darnold will very likely be sitting there at #4. No way Barkley will be.
