Is 2018 a Super Bowl Year for the Cowboys or a rebuilding year?

A cohesive, young team, despite its leader, could do it. Garrett is not monumentally bad, louts, just mediocre.
It could happen in 2019.

Yea.................I could win the powerball lottery also..............both have about the same probability as this team winning the SB with Clappy

Rebuilding sounds as if you have nothing and are starting from scratch. The Cowboys just need a few quality pieces and better coaching. Sounds simple.

You can't even tell me that's reality when the Eagirls just won a championship. The league is literally wide open. You just went 13-3 and then 9-7....now you are rebuilding? Naw......
Yes, rebuilding. The O line, WRs and secondary proved vulnerable and questions among the nervous Nelsons about Dak.
A 4-game fall from the prervioius season should signal a fall off.

Yes, sounds simple the way you put it, Mr. Holmes.

Look at the Vegas odds. This isn't that hard. We will be right in it.

We are not very positive as a fan base. I see people making threads like this wondering silly things like "is this going to be a rebuilding year" and then I remember we have one of the best young QB in football and half of you want to replace the guy with Trevor Siemien. I don't understand what is wrong with a lot of you.

I think we could compete and be in the mix, but I would like to see us jettison Witten, Dez and a few others. They don't put us over the top. Go with the youth movement and save some cap space. If we do that and win it we could be starting another dynasty.

Odds are long of winning the SB as currently constructed so we might as well look a little bit longer term.

we've been 'rebuilding' for the past 20 years. This perpetual "rebuilding" is an excuse for having a FO that has no clue as to what it's doing.
While that is true, I consider any year we fail to advance in playoffs a rebuilding year

...Because I am thinking we are, in fact, in a rebuilding mode and Stephen might, for future considerations, might release, trade and move up for a sterling DE.
Yeah, your favorite players could be waived. Maybe. Maybe, you workaday louts. And let me tell you, ... THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH REBUILDING!
Blokes and JAGs, I firmly believe Jimmy's first championship was a fluke. A last step in rebuilding. And they won a SB a year before schedule! Jimmy didn't see it coming!!

It can happen for us in 2018, but ... In your primeval, log-cabin simplistic, double-wides, romantic hearts --- have you, the fans, really dreams of a SB in 2018?
Seriously????
Nay, you street urchin lagabouts!!
I say, 2018 is for rebuilding, lads!
And we will rock the NFL in 2019!
Next year its Eagles and raiders. Steelers and Rams! We come in the top 10. That's it, surly knaves!
But ... Write it down, Mateys!
Yes, write it down, laggards ...
We will own 2019!!!

We are constantly in a rebuilding mode. Using the DRAFT ONLY to retool your team will NEVER get us to where we are a legitimate contender year in and year out. We have been rebuilding the defense for 15 years with little success and still at an average D. We finally rebuilt the line. But it was a too late for Romo. Now the offense is starting to crumble with the line and the pass catchers. We got lucky with Dak so that is a break. If we used FA and a trade or two, we could probably get where we need to be in a year or two. But alas, Jones isnt good enough to get the required cap space. He is already clearing up cap space to sign Dak and Zeke in 2 years.

Well, actually you finished 8-8 last year. The Eagles gifted you your last win. So after going 13-3 and then 8-8, that wouldn't prompt you to rebuild? It should. That type of swing tells me that you're closer to an 8-8 type than a 13-3 type of team. Go ahead, make the suspension/injury excuse, lol. The Eagles faced more adversity and won it all in spite of. There's an old saying some of you may want to remember; Excuses don't explain, and explanations don't excuse. All that matters is the bottom line.
What I know is this, until there's a shift in priorities in Dallas you will fail. Not one important weapon on offense comes close to seeing FA but the one defensive stud you have can't get a long term deal? He should have been locked up during the month of December. Does your FO and coaching staffs not think defense is important? Maybe Jerry feels that defensive players doesn't sell as many jerseys as offensive players. Great way to set your priorities.....

exactly plus in the NFL with a hard cap , injury, bloated salaries, and Free agency, Most teams are always in flux so its a soft rebuilding around your core..The NE patriots hardly look like the same team year to year..the eagle have a lot of one year deals they did last year and i believe they will not look the same this year..

look at the rams they are getting rid of Quinn and Tjohnson two stars on a defense that will definitely be weakened by the loss but they want to sign Donald , that big loss from a playoff team..Wade about to get his famous slide he goes through and maybe not his fault, they are just getting rid of two of his best players..

we didn't make the playoffs last year simply because of lots of key injurys , suspensions, surprise retirement and cuts.. we were two games out after what most fans call a terrible season..i believe we are a 10-11 win team with this core its the uncontrollable things that determine whether you go 8-8 or 11-5 yes parody at its finest fine line from the 7 spot missing the layoffs and the 5/6 spots.

we will always be changing rebuilding is not the right word.. with Romo/Murray Gone in steps Dak/Zeke , we lost 18 players last year from 2016 and still barely missed the playoffs..thats ton of change but still remained competitive even with all the challenges..now Witten. scandrick, and possibly Dez some of the last of the remaining players that have been around more than 5/7 years.

its natural way of life in the NFL and with the exception of NE , its the reason theres a lot of change of whos makes it to the last game of the year..

We are not going to the SB in 2018, 2019, or any other year Clappy is still head coach.

Everybody knows I am right:thumbup:
It’s like those who promoted the same with Romo. Your right until your wrong.

Did that prove Romo wasn’t enough to go to a Super Bowl? Or he wasn’t enough to overcome the handicaps, hindrances and obstacles confronted around him?

I don’t necessarily think Garrett is a Super Bowl caliber HC . He certainly hasn’t shown he is thus far but then like most I know don’t expect the Cowboys under Jerry to return to the SB.

That said. I certainly don’t see a Super Bowl team . But if Dak can develop into a threat downfield and as effective as his Rookie season we should be a playoff contender.

And if our defense continues to elevate we might could win a game in the playoffs . That’s about all the hope I have at this time until I see more on the field.

When and if we become a consistent playoff contender winning some of those and reaching some championship games only then would I begin having some SB aspirations.

I’m not sure why a 9-7 team would even be talking about a SB. But that’s how fans become so disappointed because of their high expectations .
