You must not have watched very closely because he did virtually nothing the first half of the 2015 season. He only came up with one sack in the first eight games and seven sacks in the last eight games. His performances are going to be mostly judged on sacks. There’s no bigger indicator that pressure is being applied to the QB more than registering sacks.

I dont just look at the stat column, or INTs when it comes to DBs.

Prefer to watch the players play to determine how they played.

What are you talking about? We’re not talking about a DB we’re talking about DLaw’s 2015 season. He plays DE. His performances are judged on sacks.

Just like I dont use just the INT column when determining if a DB played well.
You used purely sacks to say that he didnt play well, which isnt true.

His performance isnt based off sacks, its based off how well he performed.

Hell he had more solo tackles and TFLs in 2015 than he had in 2017 as an All Pro DE.

Those that think he wasnt good in both halves of 2015 didnt actually watch him, they just go straight to his game log. He was being doubled at the start of the season, the starting Dline consisted of Nick Hayden, Crawford, and Jeremy Mincey. Once Hardy was back he was able to get some single match ups and was able to finish when he was getting pressure, the pressure he was applying all season long.

DBs are judged by pass defenses and INT’s. There’s certain positions where stats determine a players level of play. You won’t find a DB in the Hall of Fame that didn’t have a lot of INT’s. DE’s are judged by sacks and DLaw will be making 17M in 2018 on the franchise tag because he put up 14.5 sacks last season. He’s put himself in position for a huge contract extension based on that sack total. His level of performance is based on sacks. His job is to affect the QB.

Yeah, that's lazy and knowledgable football guys do not agree with this.

Sacks are part of the evaluation, but far from the entire assessment.

Revis is the highest paid DB of all time, and he wasnt a big INT guy in his prime. Its obvious that your logic is flawed.

To reiterate so everyone knows, not just you, SACKS DONT DETERMINE IF A EDGE RUSHER WAS PRODUCTIVE, AND INTS DONT DETERMINE IF A DB WAS PRODUCTIVE. It's part of the equation, but there's many other variables.

It's just incredibly lazy and you won't know if a player actually played well or not.

You'll end up with players like Lorenzo Alexander and Artie Burns on your team with large contracts. I'll take more productive playerd that help the team more.

It’s your logic that’s flawed. Revis had 29 INT’s during his career and 18 of those came during his first 5 seasons despite QBs trying to avoid him. He tore his ACL during his 6th season and was never the same player. Look at the list of DBs in the Hall of Fame and checkout their INT totals. DEs are judged on sacks. If they’re not coming up with many sacks they’re probably not getting many pressures because sacks and pressures go hand in hand.

If a DE is getting a lot of sacks they’ll likely have a number of near misses. If DLaw only put up 7 to 8 sacks in 2017 he would have either been offered a nice but reasonable contract extension or the Cowboys would have allowed him to test free agency. No way would they have franchised him for 17M had he not put up 14.5 sacks. He’s being paid a lot of money to rush the passer.

Let him keep his fantasy, matey. His player may yet have 2 solid years.
But it points to the rush to judgment that we are packed with superstars/stars, and that enables the Super Bowl fantasy that some homers have.
Methinks there is a higher probability of Jerry being appointed to Trump's cabinet than getting to a Super Bowl, much less winning one next season.
