yup...and players of his caliber are like finding a needle in a haystack. They only come around once every 5 years or so.

I don't know man. Just doesn't seem like a whole lot of joy in Mudville. No FA signings. We're bending over for Martin and Condon. we only know how to sign O-lineman in the first round. There is no plan. Gregory is laying the ground work for reinstatement boo. Garrett sucks. Management sucks. Dez sucks. Dak sucks. seems like a CNN news room. I quit watching CNN

Franchise tag is a cap killer. And you would be happy getting a third round pick for having to let Martin walk?

Depends on the position.
May very well be paying less than what they would have to pay him since it is based off of an average of the top 5 salaries at that position.
I would be okay with tagging him.

Whats the plan if Tyron is injured again? that's a fair question
Tyrons health is a great question...and gets dismissed on here as if its no big deal...but I agree with the fact WE GOT to have a plan behind Tyron that's not the human Dumpster fire known as Chaz Green. We better have a contingency plan.

The tackle, Fleming that visited..we better sign him up fast. Hes a quality young tackle that can start and be a swing tackle. That' should be the plan.

His agent and Zack made it very clear last year he wanted to be the highest paid guard in the NFL and deservedly so. He might go down with Emmitt as one of the top Cowboy drafts picks ever in that pick # 15-20 range. I'm just wondering why the two sides were so far apart last year. If he would of been paid last year as the highest paid guard it would probably look like a steal right now. If Condon purposely waited another year then he should of just told the Cowboys let's just talk in 2018 instead of entering negotiations in 2017.

Not at all I don't blame him one bit. My only gripe is that if his agent purposely stalled for a year so he could jack up the price he should of just told the Cowboys we will talk in 2018. Instead if I remember right they were in serious negotiations at the beginning of camp last year.

Should've and would've, please.

As an agent, he should always listen when the team wants to talk money. You can always reject their offer, but the strategy you're suggesting simply is not how business works. You also don't tell the team your strategy for your client. His job is to get his client the best deal. Whether we, as fans, like it is irrelevant.

You don't get to spread the hit. It's just a year deal. And it doesn't reward the team who drafted him. You can franchise any player.

But imagine if we could offer Martin 16 mill a year, but only have say 10 mill count against the cap.

It's a win for players and for fans. The cheap teams would hate it, but so what. Teams willing to spend would love it. Well, the ones who draft well anyways.

From an article about Norwell:

"The NFL does not distinguish between tackles and guards/centers when determining the tag value for offensive linemen, which this year is expected to be around $14.3 million."

this team doesn't have any kind of plan in place. that was evident when Romo went down a few years ago and we choked off a whole season of Weeden and Cassell. which by the way that lesson hasnt been learned either cause if something were to happen to Dak, who the hell trust Cooper Rush?

When you are not competing for super bowls, keeping your best players at the most money possible should not be a high priority. We should have re-signed Zach years ago when it was obvious to all that he was one of the best in the league. But, we made him wait and now he's going to make us pay. Stephen would be a fool to pay a G 14 million a year at the current cap number. The smart move here is for the cowboys to play hardball. We make him play out his 5th year option and then franchise him in 2019. At that point, he'll be a free agent going into his 7th season............. then cut the chord. We got his best years at a discount.

You pay your premium positions like QB, LT, and DE. Paying Zach what he's worth on the open market right now is just more foolish personal politics getting in the way of business.

Every one of them stink for their own reasons. If you're not biased, that is what it is.
It's not certain, it's all.

Zacks hometown is in Indiana. Probably a Colts fan. Hmm, they have lots of money.

Would you trade Martin this year if they would give up a first and second?
Without a doubt. Colts first and second round pick for Martin

I would be tempted, I cant lie.

That's the #6 overall pick plus their pick in the second round which is #35 overall I believe.

So Zack for the #6 and #35 overall picks? Yea, I would do it bro. I love Zach, but I am not down with paying a Guard $15 million a season.

How about you my friend, would you do it?
