As much as I've criticized Dez I think it's insane to even compare Hurns to him.

People are losing their minds with these signings. I just watched a video from Cowboysblog on youtube and he actually said Deonte Thompson is an upgrade over Terrance Williams. What?
Like maybe it’s because he actually catches with his hands?

Hes replacing Bease. Its actually hilarious to read Broaddus' scouting report. Now I know why he is no longer one. Its the complete opposite of every other scouting report out there lol

I don't think so. That would not be a good move.

Am I the only one not too bothered by an occasional drop? Sure it sucks when it happens in the moment but these guys all provide value on every play. It’s just one down and the worst catchers still only drop like a dozen a season that’s like ripping on a linemen for holding here and there

You have got to be kidding? Are you one of Jerry's kids? How many times does it take for T. Will to break your heart because he makes a crucial mistake?

You must have got dumped on your prom night and forgave the *****...

Williams has so many boneheaded plays though. Holds. Blocks in the back. Drops. Not having ANY situational awareness.

He's not a terrible player, but Hurns is definitely an upgrade in every facet.

Thank you...1000 times over:flagwave:

New cap hit
12.5 + 6? + 6? + 3.5 + + 2.5 + 3.25(guaranteed)
Kinda pricey for the whole squad
Notice how Dez is about equal in cost to Hurns and the 19th pick as Ridley.

Its a lot, but the number for Ridley will be much lower than 6 Million. OJ Howard was the 19th pick of last years draft and his first year cap hit was $2,003,438.

Also Hurns likely has a cap hit much lower than 6 MM. Its 12 Million over 2 years but its unlikely to be split evenly. Most deals like that have a lower number in the first year and "make good" number in the second. The real number will be more like 4 or so.

His contract the next two years is the same: 12.5m salary, 4 m pro rata SB, so cap hit of 16.5m each year. If we cut him now, his 12.5m salary goes bye bye and we are on the hook for $8m acceleration of SB. So we would Save 8.5m this year and 16.5m next with $8m in dead money this year. If we wait til June, we save 12.5m this year and next, with dead money of 4m each year.

That tells me Dez is walking on very thin ice.

They also said it's up to 12 million. So incentives are being counted.

If we cut Beasley, NE will pick him up and he will catch 60-70 balls as a replacement for Amendola
I don’t get the fans who think we should release Beasley. Beasley is one of the quickest, if not, the quickest receivers in the league. If our coaches adapt this year and allow him to run more than a 7 yard in, or a 7 yard out, he will be a force again this year. Some fans want Switzer to take over Beasley’s roll. I want to keep both and start using them together. NE has been pretty successful using Edelman and Amendola at the same time!

The Cowboys handling of this will be interesting. Burns could be an upgrade over TWill but cutting TWill doesn't make cap sense. TWill might be safe because of the cap implications.

Burns would be a clear upgrade over every receiver on the roster, including Dez except Beasley who is a stud at what he does. This could be a Dez replacement for half of Dez salary.
Agree completely. We can have a successful passing game without Dez. We have done it before. Take the money from releasing Dez and go out and get a solid starting LB.

That's some really detailed analysis there. All I am saying is don't speak in absolutes when we are all reading the tea leaves. Stating your opinion is one thing, and it's fine. Stating something as fact when it is an unknown is a bit narrow minded thinking.
Could you imagine saying something so dumb you're disqualified, forever, from meaningful debate?

I cannot. You?

Thompson probably will play on special teams, but not the others.

Trading one or both of Williams and Beasley would certainly make sense based on these additions, if they have any trade value.
Trading Beasley makes no sense. Unless we can get NE’s middle LB for him. I don’t know if I would want to do that though. Beasley would be a beast on NE.

We don't have the best receiving corps but all of the sudden we are one of if not the deepest. Hopefully this puts WR at the bottom of the list on draft day.

Now cut/trade Dez, Witten and Beasley to free up $23 Million in cap room.

mr Phil----- i must be missing something obvious?....what is all this talk about "The Bease" getting the axe?...he is a mini-stud who got bracketed because teams way more scared of him than Dez...i am thinking with our upgrades and hopefully much better scheme play...teams wont be able to bracket bease anymore...am i missing something?
No, your right on! I don’t get the Bease dislike either.

That thought does run through my mind as I scroll through some stuff.

Can we try it out? Survivor style. I vote Risen off the board.

Risen, blow out your torch and go home.
