I would trade Zack Martin for a 1st and 2nd

RG is ranked as the 15th most important position on the field , according to NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...tions-importance-from-quarterback-to-returner

The question is how much money can we afford to pay a G, and still be able to pay more important positions? Having the highest paid G in NFL history may not be the path to a super bowl. You can't play RG any better than Zach has played it the past 4 years. Team still hasn't won anything. How does tripling his pay help the team? If someone offers us a decent 1st round pick, you either have to sign him long term or do the trade. Making him play out his 5th option is just short sighted team management.
well...if we trade him...forget the post season this year..He is that much of a difference maker.

Hear me out....

Zack is one of my fave Cowboys but....he's playing hardball and will want a ridiculous contract.

We cant have all our cap dollars tied up in linemen, I wouldn' sign him anyway for the contract he wants so why not throw some trade bait out there

1st and 2nd or two 1sts...whatever
Only if those 2 picks were VERY HIGH (Cleveland, Giants) and there were 2 can't-miss players available.
Meh, that's not gonna happen.
Zack is demanding a huge amount? That is because he is the best and he can. Consider the wasted money we invest in Dez, Witten year in, year out.

You have no way of knowing this. And Id bet there is no way they wouldn't let him walk. And they also wouldn't be paying Fred or Smith what they are getting either.

Just look at how much they spend on oline. It's peanuts compared to us.

And you have no way of knowing they wouldn't pay Fred or Smith. lmao.

In 2017 the Pats were 17th in cap spending on Oline. The cowboys were 24th.
In 2016 the Pats were 9th in cap spending on Oline. The Boys were 11th.

So I looked and it turns out you were wrong again.

It appears signing him will be difficult. No doubt a 1st and 2nd would go a long way to ease the pain of losing him.

We can sign Martin, cut Dez, Witten restrcture right now.
We have 6k for draft players.
The offsesson is over

Not sure what you're looking at. In 2017, the Cowboys were 9th and NE was 19th. In average annual contract value. Cap hits don't represent contract values.

2016 Dallas was 5th and NE 18th.

And if I'm wrong I'll let you know sport.

No one is giving up a first and second for Martin.

Unless they are at the end of the round.

Why in the world would you use avg cash $ instead of cap %? Lmao

NOONE uses that

Absolutely. I cringe at what Zeke is going to want and then this team thinking about carrying a TB with a massive cap number on their books.
Zeke will have a much shorter career
Oline can play a very long time
Zeke will be here 5 at the most 6 years

Because that is what they are paid? You can jigger contracts to fit certain years. Most teams do. First year cap hits are usually very reduced. Second years as well. With the bulk being in later years.

The timing of cap hits don't indicate true contract values.

So people who are interested in actual contract values do. Try it, you may understand things a little better.

No one is giving a 1 and 2 for a guard and then have to pay him
Though if they did, I would do it
You can draft two extra players one being a guard
It’s not gonna happen but it would also not be turned down by any GM with half a brain
You go into a draft that has some good guard prospects with two first, two seconds and a third
If it was high picks you could add another pick trading down
I would trade Martin for what he would bring but if a team offered that crazy of an offer I’d take it

Exactly. The benefit of the draft is high talent at a lower cost.

Martin is not a value. Very, very, very few highest paid players actually are. Production VS contract.

QB's get paid huge dollars just because there are so few of them available.

You wouldn't sign the guy who solidified our line and is arguably the best at his position in football? LOL. Glad you aren't the GM sir. Like I get it obviously. But losing Martin would destroy this line.
Martin is one of the best players in the NFL, no way Dallas trades him, not for Two # 1's and a 2nd rounder.
