Watch how many bad first half calls in games have the effect of keeping the score close, which means more viewers and more ad revenue to the NFL.

Then watch DLaw getting held on every other play last year, beginning right after Jerry challenged Goodell's new contract and the Zeke suspension.

Then tell me you are shocked, shocked that they don't make the rules up as they go along.

If there is a REAL problem, the problem lies with just one person. Everyone here seems to forget that all replays are decided by one person in New York, not the refs on the field. When it's a scoring play those plays are automatically reviewed by that person. The rule was changed to how it was applied during the SB and since it would have been applied to both teams there's no real problem accept with those that look for conspiracy in everything.

I don't know how Goodell can let this kind of stuff happen without suspending Zeke for it.

It will be a issue when a group of refs are caught placing bets sorta like the NBA

So if this applied to the entire 2017 season, would the same two teams be in the playoffs?

I'm going to guess that the owners gave the go-ahead to do this, probably to try out the possible rule change. Now, it might have only been a handful of owners. I doubt there's any scandal to it.
It probably won't be a scandal, bug it should be.

When you start a season with a set of rules, you finish the season with the same set of rules. You make the changes in the offseason.

This is like MLB deciding that 5 balls is a walk for the World Series. And deciding this the day before Game 1.

Totally bush league.

The NFL's been a "Scandal" ever since Goodell took over. Especially the insane calls against the Cowboys! I also believe it's fixed. It's too obvious anymore for it not to be.

 No sane person would continue to watch a sport passing itself off as legitimate if they truly believed it was fixed.

Let's run that post through the BS detector:

The NFL's been a "Scandal" ever since Goodell took over because the Dez catch and Zeke's suspension made me mad. Especially the insane calls that I only notice/complain about when they're against the Cowboys! I also believe it's fixed because the Cowboys haven't won anything in years. It's too obvious anymore for it not to be but it was straight up legit when Dallas was winning titles.

#1...BS Detector? Who sponsored or invented that, non Dallas fans? There are a lot more examples than the Dez catch and the Zeke suspension.

#2...OF COURSE Dallas fans will notice calls against us--it's our team, and we watch them a lot more, just like fans of every other team. But most of us DO notice tons of bad calls everywhere. We just don't care enough about other teams to dwell on it.

#3...It's NOT because the Cowboys haven't won anything in years. It's because we see all the bad calls, we've heard about all the rule changes, and only a delusional person would ignore the abundance of highly improbable outcomes and strange coincidences.

#4...It's NEVER been straight up legit, but as the money has become more ludicrous every year, the lack of morals, total disregard for others, and shameful hunger for control has become epic. But I'd wager many folks like yourself will do a "180" when Dallas eventually DOES become a consistent winner again.

Hey, who's your favorite team?

Last night on NFL Live they had a segment reporting from the owners meeting where they discussed the rules changes. During this segment, they said & then reiterated to clarify that the NFL office officiated the Super Bowl under the catch rule that was just passed, not the rule that has been in place for the last however many years (& was still in place). When they went back to the studio, the panelist openly showed shock & disbelief at what they had just heard.

The NFL brass took it upon themselves to unilaterally change how the most important game of the year was officiated without anyone's input or knowledge.

So far, I haven't heard a peep out of the media questioning this.
I suggested this right after the Superbowl. By the old rule they were not catches.
