I liked this if it were a few years ago!!

But proven vet, can play in this league. So wouldn’t be mad about it at all! Cannot expect more out of a guy around this time in free agency with what we would pay him

Huge fan of his coming out of mizzou

Everyone here waa bashing the front office bad when the Pats dealt for Kony and we didnt. He was cut shortly after.

I want depth at the edge positions, but I would prefer a trade for Kevin Dodd or Nate Orchard, or bringing Mayowa back at a reduced salary.

Kony did lead all DL in batted passes last year I believe, so between him and Irving we could more PDs on the Dline than the secondary lmao

Maybe he is taking the Cowboys approach in FA...sit back, relax, wait until the rush is over...then sign a low cost deal with the team he chooses...

Nice depth signing

Yes. Right now, our ends are Lawrence, Charlton, Datone Jones, Crawford, Tapper and possibly Gregory.

Crawford has primarily played end out of necessity and we can't count on Gregory being allowed to play. Jones seemed to be an OK addition, but Tapper hasn't been able to stay healthy, so that's maybe three we can count on, four if we have to rely on Crawford.

Frankly, if Collins ends up being our starting 1-tech, I'd prefer that Crawford rotate inside. If we make no additions, Crawford could play end on some run downs, though, if Tapper doesn't come on. Collins could also receive some playing time at 3-tech, being spelled at 1-tech by Price and/or Ash. Definitely some upgradable players in the DE/DT group. The only ones I see as potential fixtures are Lawrence, Charlton, Irving and Collins.

Datone Jones was playing 1T last year.

Positives of Ealy:

Durable, has missed one game through four years. Not sure if it was injury related or nkt.
Has shown flashes of dominance
Still young at 26 years old
Has a ton of batted passes over his career
Had an unbelievable 6.83 second 3 cone drill at the combine, which is very important for an edge rusher. That would have been the best of all edge defenders in this upcoming draft class. Harold Landry closest at 6.88
Last but certainly not least, he's a well known player so if we sign him, posters wouldnt think theyre funny or original by posting "who?"

I've also been a fan of his for a while. I'm still surprised that he was never able to follow up on that MVP caliber performance in the Super Bowl.

If nothing else, I think he would be an upgrade over Benson Mayowa.
