we are not close to competing for anything come next year. am I throwing in the towel? NO. let me repeat. NO

games have to be played. teams off season additions may not always work out.

but Eagles are the champs and they get Wentz back. Minn. had a great defense added a good QB and they will get Darwin back. Rams are loading up and have added some nice pieces and they had some nice young pieces already. assuming those three are class of the division.,

so that leaves Cowboys, GB, Carolina, Seattle, Falcons, NO as the group to fight for 3 spots. which basically leaves us fighting for twoof the final spots. right now we are behind all of those teams. yes we get Zeke back and that will make a lot of difference. but its an uphill battle.

again, not throwing in the towel. just based on the off season. yes, draft to come but everyone always claims draft made them better and my draftee is better than yours.

So should I cancel the bet I made with my buddy, who is an Eagles fan? He gave me 3-1 odds on $100 bet, that the Cowboys wouldn't make the playoffs this year. I feel pretty good about it though. It's an even year. I bet him right after the Eagles won the Super Bowl, while he was annebriated, talking smack.

Assuming Dez is still here the Cowboys upgraded at receiver, improved ol depth and downgraded at MLB. We have Zeke coming back and a more experienced young d. We certainly have question marks at safety, MLB, 1tech, but there are still free agents and the draft to improve at those spots. The NFL is so different year over year and who's to say the top teams from last year wont regress? It happened to the Cowboys when others like the Rams and Eagles looked far away from competing.

What were people predicting for the Rams, Vikings, and Eagles around this time last year?

Everybody's 0-0. The Cowboys could be really good or really bad. So yes, let's at least wait until the draft before we make assumptions.

But some will keep their assumptions regardless.

We're not far enough away for post like this either. This is a year to year league.

Sounds like you are throwing in the towel.
What was your take a few years back when Tony was out with another back injury and we were starting the season with a rookie QB and a rookie RB.
I bet you felt worse than now. And how did that season turn out, other than the coaches blowing the playoff game as usual.

We haven’t even had the draft yet! In fact, I always believe we never know what a team is until the real bullets start flying in September when the regular season starts.

Right now too many sports journalists and fans are declaring the rams the “sexy” pick from the NFC and the beagles and vi-queens also. They have already been crowned SB winners on paper. Ha! Any predictions at this point in the offseason are about as reliable as a Jerry Jones quote. Forgetaboutit!

The most fun I get out of preseason games is waiting to see how many of our third stringers and practice squad players are being fitted for gold jackets in Canton. Pre-season games are a good way to see what rookies and new players have to offer. But the competition is not top shelf and many of the “stars of August” are either holding a clipboard or a broom in September! LOL!

Again....it’s too early!

I think we are going to go down to the final weekend in determining if we make the playoffs. I just hope we are in control of our own destiny. I doubt we win the division and wild card spot is what we'll be in contention for.

Wentz won’t even be back for training camp. He may never be the same QB again. The injury he suffered isn’t your typical ACL tear. Even if he is back, he won’t be 100% until mid season.

The Cowboys went 9-7 while missing Zeke for 6 games. If he doesn’t get suspended, we likely make the playoffs.

The Eagles don’t scare me in the least. Probably the weakest Super Bowl champion in 15 years.

So if I hear you correctly, this year is no different than the last 20 years. I think we all knew this already.
