Right now it's:

1. Dez.
2. Witten is a distant second.

I really don't have that much of a problem with the rest of the team. I'm not even as down on Jerry or Red Ball as most of you guys are. I can see the pros and cons on everyone else. The jury is still out on the rest of the team.

The Jury came back on Dez and Witten a long time ago. Too many are just shocked at the verdict and don't like it!!
If dez is here what do think his stats will be?pick any stats- good or bad

I think this whole notion of what a #1 receiver is ....is sort of an antiquated silly point of view. Antonio Brown, Steve Smith, Steve Largent, and Jerry Rice for that matter would not have been listed as #1 receivers when they were drafted. Inside/outside, whatever, it's about production.

It's a bit absurd to think we cant get a great receiver anywhere in the draft. Beasley was undrafted and most would say at this point he is far better than Dez. Miles Austin was an undrafted free agent.

We do not need to feel pressured to draft a wideout early. Hurns is already better than Dez. So is Beasley. Hell Thompson may be better than Dez too. It's not hard to replace his production the last 3 years. He has been almost a bum.
Yeah, this idea that you have to have a so called number one guy is not the way I'd go. Look at Minnesota, Eagles, Pats.

Number one guy's usually end up that way because they get a big contract and that leads to not paying a number two guy so much which leads to the number 1 getting most of the looks which then makes it appear that paying him all that money was worth it. A self fulfilling prophecy.

I don't think it's wise to use the 1st round pick on Ridley, as he's not projected as a true #1 being a smaller dude. I think they need a solid plan to release Dez this season. The one suggestion I've seen so far (@BlindFaith) was to take the hiccup it may cause to the offense, by using Hurns as the #1 reciever, and then drafting a reciever in the 3rd round.

I personally think if they cut Dez, they should trade some later round picks to get another 2nd round pick, to draft a reciever who has potential to develop into a #1 reciever. That way they could also use a couple top picks for DT, LB, S or OL. I still think it's best to keep Dez, to see if he and Dak gel this season, though.
I'm on board with trading picks to move up in the second or to get an extra third or fourth.

I'm just not blown away by the receivers this year. And the value seems to be in the mid rounds.

Not sure what the WR crop looks like next year.

It was the DB coach not the D-Coordinator. His coaching career experience is 2 years as an assistant DB coach and 2 as a CB coach.

That coaching staff was fired after the season. The DC was fired during the season.

If you watch that entire segment of that show, you'll see that it was not very complimentary of Dez.

When he said they rolled coverage he actually was actually criticising the other WRs.

With the formation he kept referencing, Dez was on 1 side with 2 WRs and Witten on the other side. They played a standard defense of two CBs on the 2 WRs, 1 CB on Dez and 2 deep Safeties. They had the Safety on the side with Dez much closer to the line than the one on the other side.

Their strategy appeared to be trying to trick Dak into throwing an INT. They did different things from the same look when covering Dez. The CB would often undercut the route because the Safety could cover Dez 1-on-1 if he ran a deep route.

What he really seemed to imply that TWill sucks and that they would have rolled coverage to the 2 WR side if Butler was one of them (Butler missed that game).
It was hall of famer rod woodson

It's been a couple of years since we have seen that Dez. I don't know what happened but the last couple of years he has been shut down way too much. It's not all on Dak. I've watched him on my DVR in a lot of games and he isn't open very often lately. I don't know why but no QB can make a WR win against the defender. I like Dez and still root that he comes back to be a dominate player. Right now I'd like to see us get another WR that could be a #1 and keep Dez and potentially move him to a #2. I just don't think he can dominate any longer. But I think he can be a great WR if we have someone else drawing double teams. I think the issue is really just paying him something closer to where he is.

So you'd rather get rid of a wr than an incompetent GM and coach? That just shows your level of hate and that you don't really wants what's best for this team.

This is hilarious, you guys are already hedging your bets if Dez has a good season. Show some courage.
Don't need to hedge my bets. He's a Cowboys player and I will root for him. As new information comes in, I change my opinions. I don't hold onto an opinion that has proven to be obsolete like many other people on the internet who double down on their opinions. For example, I wanted Dez cut because he was overpaid...up until the market was reset with other receivers receiving huge deals.

My opinions are based upon what has happened thus far. If you think we haven't forced the ball to Dez in the red zone in the past, I'd be happy to hear that opinion. I doubt you would believe that though.

Even a stopped clock is right twice per day. You have been wrong about Dez three years in a row. If he has a good year and then regresses back into the black hole he is in would you be right? Vindicated? Lol.

You might as well hang your hat on a single good play that Dez may make this year as showing he "still has it". Lol

Dez "should" have the opportunity to have better stats this year because the OL should be healthier. Elliott should be here all year AND with Hurns actually demanding double teams Dez should have more options.

Will he or won't he? Who knows. I really don't think he will get another chance to prove he can do it on this team unless he swallows his pride and takes a pay cut.

Who says they are incompetent? Maybe they just draft idiotic players like Dez who make them look bad on occasion?

Still hedging, this is hilarious. Next thing you're going to say is "Dez should have 85 catches for 1300 yards and 10 tds because.............:lmao:

You mean players that own team records and stuff right, so now drafting Dez was a bad choice. Do you even listen to how this sounds before you post?

So you discount what he says out of hand? There is no logic to that and frankly if you feel that way then put him on ignore.

He made valid points that were not insulting. You willfully ignored them. I am not going to apologize for saying which way the wind blows.

Frankly, you doing what you did there is a big reason why there can be "no quality exchanging of facts and ideas."

It's OK, it's been quite amusing watching you. Insulting someone w/ no reason begets an apology from an adult, but it's OK, I'm well armored and it's just amusing.

I don't expect an apology from you. You're not a strong enough person.

It depends. Are we going to artificially inflate his stats by forcin him the ball?
Well we did that in 2017, according to you. So it seems like an irrelevant variable or at least one that makes 2017 the benchmark by which you have ceiling, right?

good points. but no question we need help at wr. imo, the money saved cutting dez could help the team more than keeping dez. he's no longer an elite or #1 wr.
