Personally, I think the love affair with Dez is crazy. He has aldehyde been overhyped by some fans, even between 2012-2014 when his stats were great.

That’s said, he isn’t “done” and I don’t think he is overpaid anymore due to then market on WRs being reset this free agency season. I think he needs to get his head on straight and correct his mistakes.

As a Dez hater because I don’t excuse every one of his mistakes, I think a better question to the Dezzies is “when are you going to stop making excuses for him and want Dez to improve on what he can control?”
I have organic chem at 9 time to wake up thanks for the reminder!

2012 – 1,382 yards, 12 TD's
2013 – 1,233 yards, 13 TD's
2014 – 1,320 yards, 16 TD's

He got a new contract going into the 2015 season.

So you're saying, after three years of those numbers, you didn't think he was a "Top 5 receiver" (whatever that even means) and didn't like that he got paid, but still claim you were a fan of his?

Ok.

It's okay to admit you've been a career Dez hater, we'll still love you.

Lol. Basically.

I didn't like the contract when they locked him up.

But even if you think he's dropped off and you think his current salary is higher than it should be, I don't see how anyone can argue that the Cowboys are better off without him than with him - certainly not in 2018.

This is not a bash Dez supporters thread. I know some of you hold out hope for him, which in some ways is admirable.

What would it take for you as a Dez fan to accept the fact that he is done (assuming he is actually done). Will it take the Cowboys cutting him for you to write him off? Will his stats have to drop off further?

Would we have to get someone like Rogers to replace Dek? Keep in mind I was once a Dez fan too.

For me the contract signing really didn't set very well with me because I did not see him as a top 5 guy. But quite honestly I thought he would be better than he has been since he signed his contract. Dez sideline antics when we were winning, and failing to recognize the game situation in the Green Bay Games really soured me on him too.

Are any of you ride or die type of fans for Dez?

When I watch game video of him and he is no longer getting separation.

We really needed another dez thread
The bottom line in Dez is he needs to play better and it would not be smart to cut or trade him this year
Many here want to rebuild the defense and cut dez and those two things aren’t happening in the same draft
Dez plays better this year or he will be moved out, and should
But it is not possible to build the defense and cut dez this year
Now I’m sure someone will have a fantasy of moving this guy to fix the oline, draft this guy in the 5th to fix this problem
We need to spend 3 of top 4 on defense and you can’t do that and replace dez

They need to revamp everybody's routes, not just Dez. Hopefully they will.

Isn't Dez's contract structured to make him expendable next season?

(Oh & Jumbo thanks for letting me start my day feeling so smart. Of course now that I've had my coffee that fallacy has faded away)

I don't support Dez unequivocally. I believe that his skills have declined slightly because injuries have hurt his physical gifts, which have primarily been what he has used to win the ball in his career. However, I also believe the fact that we've become more run-oriented and the changes at quarterback have affected his game (2012-2014 with Romo more than 88 catches and 1,200 yards; next three years without Romo and his best year was last year with 69 catches, 838 yards).

So, it would probably take him going to another team and failing for me to believe that he's done. He would need to go to a team that relies more on the pass and has a quality quarterback.

Now, I think one of those two things can still happen here. It took Romo a while to get completely comfortable with Dez's strengths and if Dak is working on it, the same thing could happen. However, I also acknowledge that even if he plays like he did in his prime his numbers likely won't reflect it. (The reason I say likely is because 2014 was one of his best years even though we were making the switch to being run-oriented. ... Of course, it was also a MVP-worthy year for Romo so that might have had something to do with it.)

If Dak and Dez cannot get on the same page this year, if we send Dez deep constantly but can't regularly put the ball where he can win it, then we need to acknowledge that Dak needs a different type of receiver and move on after the season. Then, after he goes to another team, we'll get to see how much of his decline is based on the QB and the system and how much is him.

Give it a rest this is getting beyond ridiculous. I am about to put you on ignore temporarily to avoid these BS threads.

The problem with the OP can be found in the title. "Believer." I'm not a fan of Dez. Or Dak. Or Zeke. Or anyone on this team....at least in the way the OP is describing. I don't develop crushes on players like @xwalker does. I also don't irrationally hate players like....well....like @xwalker does. I am a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are better right now with Dez on the team. And so I want Dez to remain for the sake of the Cowboys. Not because I want to be right on Dez. What a silly fanboy emotion from the OP.

Yup this is embarrassing re-writing of history. Dez had arguably one of the best starts to a career in WR history. HISTORY!

But somehow @Verdict was convinced he wasn't a "top 5 guy." It's just a stupid conversation to even try and entertain.

Can this thread be deleted, or at least let us have a temporary ignore thread...this is beyond ridiculous.
Why do you continually complain about these threads and repeatedly post in them, lol?
