Let me break it down for you
@TexasFrog
My position on Landry is that he was given time to develop as a HC. The criticism against Garrett that I responded to in another thread (where you copy/pasted a reply you gave to AC) was talking about his record- specifically a lack of playoff success. I pointed out that Landry struggled early and using the same standard would cause someone to get rid of him. How do you think BAL feels about firing Belichick?
This isn't to say Garrett will be the next Landry. It's simply pointing out that good coaches sometimes have to have time to build their teams and figure things out. If the old DC forum were still around, you'd see I made the same argument over there. I don't think Garrett is a bad coach, but he's getting to the point where W/L matters. If this team (which he's had ample time to build) struggles again this year, then by all means get rid of him. But ask any regular from over there, I consistently point out to all the Landry congregants that before he was winning 20 seasons in a row, he was struggling and many fans from that time have said he was on the hot seat.
I always find it hilarious when people like yourself lose their minds over comparing win/loss records of football coaches at the same time in their careers. Yeah, Landry became a great coach, but it took time.
