Possible ET trade: legit or dead?

^^^^^^THAT^^^^^^ and I MIGHT NOT EVEN OFFER THAT MUCH. I might just offer 2 fourths and a player to be named. One of the 4ths would be 2019.
hate to say it but Ii doubt we get 3 years out of him. More like 2 great years plus a 3rd that MAY or may not be very good.

Seattle has no Position on the negotiation table. They know that ET will walk next season for nothing.

They either take what they can get this year or watch him leave for free next season.

Id offer our 4th Rounder this Year and Next Years 4th. Thats about it.

They can franchise him if they chose to as high end safety avg really isn’t that outrageous. Hell they may even save money on the yr. on top of that, the comp pick will likely be higher than a 4th.

So really I don’t think they’re over the barrel as much as it seems

We finally have a little money and cap space and most on this board can't wait to spend it. Money burns holes in lots of pockets on this board.

Cap space is useless this year if we don't use it. There won't be anything to buy after the draft.

I'd spend it on Earl Thomas and Navarro Bowman.

If you burn a premium pick, in 5 years hes going to cost that anyways if he turns out to be Earl Thomas.

Yeah but we could have had spent that money in free agency and draft a player with the pick. I would have preferred that to him.

This trade has never been proposed. I don't even know why we are discussing it.

Here is the problem I personally would rather have Derwin James over ET however I feel strongly Derwin James
will go 7th or within a pick or so. With me saying all this it would take our 2nd Rounder this year plus probably an
extra 5th or 6th to get to this spot in the 1st Round. I feel our 2nd Rounder will be a Starter on Defense or OL.
I'm not willing to give up 3 picks. I keep my 1st Rounder, 2nd Rounder for sure they are not being traded for
Derwin or Earl. I would go 3rd Rounder or 4th Rounder for ET only if I can get him to sign a 3 yr deal. He is still
a stud Safety probably top 3 in the League. He makes our Secondary one of the best in the NFL. Personally
would be looking Vita Vea in the 1st Round and Linebacker in the 2nd Round which should be some solid ones
there at #50. Since potentially I traded my 3rd Rounder for ET than 4th Round I go OL or WR same as 5th Round.
You just added a 3T, LB and Safety to our Defense. I'm drooling with the fact we have a solid Pass Rush already.

I seem to recall a certain HOF TE on this very team who was weighing his options for retirement as well not to long ago. People are emotional after losses or injuries. Its just human nature.

Yeah, but Earl was 28 when he was saying that. I understand emotions run high, but would never chance all this draft capital and huge contract unless there was a better guarantee. Just wait till next year if they want more than a 4th rounder. The Cowboys are likely bidding against themselves, again. They are not one player away, no need to lose patience now.

Word on the street it'll be for a 2019 pick and that will be determined on if he resigns or not. So a 2019 3rd rounder and if he resigns a 2019 a 2nd rounder.

In reality that would be fair. Dallas does have to protect themselves.

Also the same word is if he does receive a contract offer there will be clouses in it protecting the Cowboys against regreshion and injury. A more front loaded contract with his money guaranteed upfront. So if he does regress or gets Injured in a way that takes him from football at least the cowboys won't be hog tied to his conteact

Seattle doesn’t have a 2nd or 3rd I doubt that’s true.

Where is the word on the Street coming from I don't see this anywhere ?

Skater reported the other day on NFLN that the Cowboys may wait until he is a FA next year.

It is a good leak by the front office. They are telling Seattle come way down, or get nothing when he is a FA next season.

I'm not trading away high premium draft picks. Anything above a 4th is not very smart IMO.
