And for the folks saying no way to giving up our 2nd rounder, pick 50 if I remember correctly, yall are forgetting one thing.

ET is arguably the best FS in the entire freaking league!!!!

You aint getting that at pick 50, in fact, there is no FS in this draft that is as good as ET is today.

For a 2nd round pick, it should be a no brainer.........but knowing this front office, they will botch it somehow.

Because they might decide to franchise him next year.

That is what people are forgetting, that if ET plays lights out this year, they are not going to just let him walk for nothing. They are going to franchise and then try to trade him next year. Besides, the franchise tag for a FS is like $11 million, not unreasonable for ET.

So trade a 2nd rounder this year and pitch in a 4 or you might have to bid higher next year if ET is all pro again. That is the rationale behind it.

Its called getting better..............if we were not going to make any more moves, then why release Dez? We were under the salary cap, didn't need his money for anything, and don't need money for picks until late summer. So again, why didn't we just keep Dez if we are not going to use his money for anything?

Like virtually every talking head on DC.com has said, even Mickey, that if you don't use Dez's money to make the team better than it was all for not. If all you are going to do is just cut Dez and stick his money in your pocket and call it a day, that does not make you a better team. Should have just kept Dez if that was the plan.

And that is not the fans saying this, it is the guys who have their paychecks signed by Jerry saying this (Spags, Eatman, Helmen, Broaddus, Amber, ect...).

Even the beat writers like Eatman and Spags think it was a dumb arse move to cut Dez if you don't make a move.

After listening to Jerry, I think he let it slip that he could negotiate a 2 or 3 yr extension on the clock. Obviously he was talking about ET.

I think they have the parameters of a trade set up with Seattle and they are waiting until Dallas is on the clock at pick 50 to make the deal. Maybe there is a player or two that Seattle wants and the trade is contingent on one of those players being there at 50, I don't know.

Just seems like something has been agreed to behind the scenes at this point.

Derwin James is only a box safety. He'll get taken in the 1st round but I don't think I'd use a 1st+ on an unproven box safety.

He's asking for $10m and they are balking at that.

We have Martin & Lawrence to try and sign long term. Dak will be coming up for money next season. We will have to sign some players due to injuries at camp. The money will be spent but, should not be wasted on an oft hurt safety who wants big money at the end of his career. You do know that
he almost quit football a couple of seasons ago.
 
Unless Stephen Jones was being sly in the PC yesterday, this trade is dead in the water.

I will admit alot of fans have a great outlook on what they would do if they were the cowboys GM.

If only they'd let us call the shots for one off-season or one draft. We can only hope they check most things off on our wishlist.

Or hope that what they don't checks out and the fans come around to it. That' How the zeke and dak draft worked out. Alot of fans didn't want RB in the 1st that year and were livid.
 
No doubt ET is an awesome player but he's going to be expensive and doesn't really fit the mold of this young team....personally I'd rather get our draft picks and keep building the young team through the draft.

He would be am upgrade no doubt. But something to be said about a young team growing together

No one is clamoring this year to take on ET's contract and no team is going to clamor to get him next year when he's a year older. He's
also starting to get hurt every year now. How much money do you want to wrap up in a part time player?
 
all it takes is 1 phone call by Seattle and its on. Its smokescreen season and NO TEAM is showing their next move.
