Rumor: Mortensen: Witten to retire **merged**

Our offense could be one of the best in the league with a healthy Smith, Zeke for a full season and Dak improved.

With the loss of Dez and Witten that’s rendered our receiving corp average, we’re going to have a tough time bettering our 14th ranking last season.

The way Dallas treated Dez and Romo, who cares whether Witten’s announcement, if true, blind-sides this organization.

Plus, he probably may want to retire now, knowing full well, the SB window they had the last couple years is probably closed.

I bet he starts at 5m per.....that is the floor for the next 20 years

THat would be higher than almost every current announcer.

Gruden was among the highest at 6.5m a year but that was earned over a long time in the booth. Many of the big names are in the $500k to $2m range. With no experience it would be hard for me to believe Witten would pull that kind of money. One thing I saw said Romo was being paid about 1.5m by CBS. Find it hard Witten would get 3 times that.

I hear you but I don't think it's going to be that hard. Witten has just been average. We will certainly miss his leadership but not so much his production. Dez is the classical addition by subtraction. His antics had worn out the other players and coaches. So we are improved as we sit here today.

I gotta agree 1000% with you and what you present, friend!

Press conference starting right now.

JJ says Witten is still considering what to do. No announcement yet.

To me, sure sounds like Jason is probably heading for the sunset.

Hey, by all means, lets give Saint Jason some time to decide.

Maybe he can tell us something by UDFA.

i wonder if an espn network executive told mort witten is coming to espn...or might be..and mort jumped the gun to be first to break news.

I wouldn't put a change of heart past him.

I'd bet he's torn to pieces on this right now.
Yeah he don’t want to. But he was gonna have to take a reduced role. And Jarwin or Rico maybe ready to role. No way Witten leaves the team in a bind.

We all thought he was coming back because it seemed like he wanted to take every chance to get to the Super Bowl. Maybe he doesn't feel we can anytime soon. That is the only way I could see him leaving. Announcing will be there for him whenever he decides to retire the cleats.
