Has anybody watched the Amazon Prime exclusive, “All or Nothing: Dallas Cowboys”?

What was your take away from that show? Anything you did like? Didn’t like? Was there any assumptions you had that were confirmed?

I am in the middle of watching it currently. I think I am up to the first Cowboys-Commanders game. I have a couple takes from it so far:

- Dez appeared uninterested and unmotivated to me a number of times throughout the show so far. I can see now the writing on the wall that the team may have been seeing behind closed doors.

- The Zeke suspension clearly distracted not only himself but I think the entire offense. The same could be said for the flag issue. It just sucked the energy out of the season.

- Jerry is a double-edge sword. I can appreciate him wanting to be so hands on but at the same time I think it can also hinder the team. Let the coaches do their thing. Do you really need to be in the locker room after every game Jerry? Do other owners do this?

- Jerry knows they let Romo down. He admits Romo deserved better and should have a ring. I suppose that is good (that Jerry has a conscience).

- For some reason I never pictured Garrett having such a foul mouth. Now, it doesn't offend me in the least, I just didn't expect it out of him for some reason.

- The Cowboys new facility is damn nice, but man, does it scream Corporate America. Especially with Jerry flying around/landing in his personal helicopter. The NFL is without a doubt a big business.

- The Jones' kids don't seem too bad. I think Stephen is the favorite. He seems to be the one mostly getting the keys to the football team handed to him. At any rate, must be nice being born into that. "Hello! Welcome to the world. Here is a billion (plus) dollar NFL team that will be yours one day."

- I know I am going to get tomatoes thrown at me on this one, but.........Garrett seems like an alright guy. He does really try to pound a message into his team. He seems mostly respected from his coaches and players. I'm not saying I suddenly think he is an amazing coach. I am just saying I have a different viewpoint on him now. Also, man, can that guy give a dirty look! You see how pissed he looked during the Broncos game? If looks could kill........

I'm really enjoying the show. I think it was well done. I enjoy seeing some behind the scene glimpses. Jon Hamm does a good job narrating. Also, it looks really sharp on my 4K TV. Wish the NFL games looked that good. ;)

The message falls on deaf ears if the coach is giving you the answers to the test. It’s only so much (FIGHT....FINISH!) phrases until you look for the coach to give you a strategic edge. We deserve better than the corny catch phrases

Players seem to ignore Garrett for the most part. His clapping and repeating of rote motivational phrases is not inspiring. Coaches are toothless. One scene in particular had the RB coach pissed off and complaining about Zeke. Coach said he was "sick of this bull****" but then in the next scene he's practically giving Zeke a hug and a lollipop. Don't even get me started on the girl's blouse that is the WR coach! Defensive meetings before gametime had a conspicuous absence of Marinelli. Sean Lee ran the whole meeting and did all of the talking. I guess Rod is there to show funny Youtube videos to the defense. And every time we laid an egg here comes Jerry to the postgame meeting to talk about how good the boys are and gee-whiz, it wasn't their fault or some such crap.

My God...how did we win 9?

If you install a Batpole from the owner's box directly to the Locker room, you have to use it.

Zeke is always sleepy.

Seeing how Zeke is really bummed me out. He has the POTENTIAL to be great but not with the attitude and work ethic he displayed here. Dude is relying solely on physical prowess and talent. Once it starts to fade he's done. Guys with a tremendous work ethic and obsession to be better (Jerry Rice, Sean Lee, Reggie White, Nolan Arenado, Michael Jordan) have longer careers and compete at the highest levels for a lonnng time. Dak seems to be one of these types of guys...you can just tell by the look in his eyes and the way he pays attention when info is being given out. I didn't see that same spark with Zeke.

This is my takeaway. He is simply a buzzword billy.

It must get REALLY old for the vets.

This clown said Philly is about to break. “We’re gonna get a slant and break a tackle and take it to the house”. My god :omg:

I get what you're saying but isn't motivation a big part of coaching? He is trying to get the message across to these guys. He can't go out and play for them.

It's very interesting what other people thought of the series. I'm up to episode 5 but there are a lot of details I've been picking up on. Read my threads.

Primary message from coaches revolves around effort but little about executing at a high level. Mistakes seem to be alright as long as you tried hard. Garrett’s message is great for a new coach but when it is 7 years into the process, effort should be a given.

Jerry babies the players so even a harder coach probably wouldn’t have much luck.

Players seem bored to tears in the meeting rooms.
Sean Lee looks like he runs the defensive meetings. Dez was a cancer in his. Zeke looks like he just smoked for 10 hours straight.

It is no wonder why this team can beat teams they have the talent advantage over but struggle against the better teams as they also give effort but probably have more of an emphasis on executing at a higher level than what our staff expects.

Just a toxic environment in terms of a wanting to be a part of a winning culture but a great environment to make a good living.

I was bug supported if the staff until mid-2016. Watching the first episode I was actually impressed by Garrett and was hopeful. However, watching the next 7 episodes I have less confidence in them now than I did prior to watching the show.

Sean Lee is the best coach on our staff without a doubt. Its crazy. He runs the meetings and asks the players what they are going to do in x,y,z situation while Marinelli is putting together clips of people getting trampled by bulls and Elephants. Whenever Lee retires that dude will become our Defensive coordinator.

I noticed this too!! I wonder if it is like that across the league though? Most the players in the league are young and we all know how exciting "class" can be when you're an adolescent.

Not making excuses for them, just stating a possibility.

That’s the easiest part. Hard part is giving them a gameplan that isn’t trash. He keeps saying learn from it and get back to it (another corny phrase). How can they learn if you aren’t giving them anything? Lol they already heard you say fight and finish and effort blah blah blah.
