Kellen Moore, C'mon down!

Omg, and I called him "Mini-me" Moore for so long. Now I feel bad. Sorry Mini-me, it's Sir Kellen of the Moore's from now on hehe
Hey, relax, he's still goofy looking. On the old DC.com site, those two guys from Idaho were all over me for calling him goofy looking and one wanted to see a pic of me. I sent him one in a PM and now he won't leave me alone, wants me to move in but I am holding out for a ring. Hel, they acted like it was me that put that leather helmet on him, one of my all time favorite pics on a sports site.

Linehan should be on the hot-seat this season.

He’s got his guy Moore at QB coach and most of the other new O-asists have prior connections to Linehan, one way or another. Plus, the Cowboys have gone heavy-WR this offseason.

While I’m anticipating good things, if this offense stumbles in 2018, Scotty L will be history.

Romo ran his own offense Linehan was the playcaller with Romo. Notice how Romo liked to call out of plays often?

I will play theory and say the coaches first scheme came last season after Romo retired.

No, Romo did not design and develop the offense. He had input, and the ability to call audibles, which wasn’t unique to Romo and the Cowboys.

Lol so Garrett is safe you think?

Ravens/Bears style of play is the only ones I can think of and our defense would need miracles to come close.
And those were not high risk offenses, as the 03 Bucs were not either.

It sounds simple but there are coaches that coach not to score points but to win the game. They coach within the team and try not to extend anyone out to where they're on a limb. They stay within the identity of their team. I do not think this D will approach those 3 and I am not expecting a SB but I do expect the playoffs and at least one win and Dak is as good as McMahon, Dilfer and Johnson. And Ditka, Billick and Gruden didn't care anything about entertaining the crowd, they played their game.

Ya know, we've been duped into believing this is all about the superstar QB, I still believe a team can do it without a top 10 QB. If that's all it took, Brees and Rodgers would have more than one ring.

I think Linehan and, most likely, Marinelli are the Joneses last "it's not Garrett's fault" cards to be played.

It would not surprise me if they were to struggle on the O side to see Garrett take the play calling back, which really puts his neck in the noose if they struggle.

But they do have one card up their sleeve, Dak. He was not even their second choice in the draft at QB and somebody or bodies had to be sold on him and the word was it was Wilson. If Dak struggles, there's the scapegoat for Garrett and Linehan. And for all we know, neither was on board with drafting him and we don't know if Linehan was on board with not starting Romo.

I do think firing Garrett would be the toughest thing Booger has had to do since buying the team and that is the last resort. Garrett is family and we know how Booger takes care of family.

The word on Moore coming out of Boise St. was that he, probably, had the best QB mind and understanding of offense of any QB coming out and some were really impressed with his knowledge, even as a rookie.

Now he gets his chance with Prescott, Rush and White and I don't know if there's a team with less NFL experience at the QB position than the Cowboys. He's got what some feel is a reclamation project with QB1 after only two seasons but this season Prescott must move the ball down the field or we could see either Rush or White or both.

But this is where a young first time coach, pre-anointed, makes his name for himself and catches everyone's attention because what GM or HC isn't going to be paying attention to the Dallas Cowboys and their QB?

The other dynamic here is that Linehan could serve as a sacrifice and his young apprentice might just slide into his spot. No coordinator has his butt sitting on the burner as much as Scott Linehan. The man is blessed with a top 5 OL and top 3 RB and there will be no excuses this season, produce or be gone because that young coach that he likes so much is just waiting to take his job. Because if he stumbles and the light shines on Moore, the Cowboys might have little choice but to promote him or lose him. The highest priority in the NFL is QB development and Moore will have a lot of light shining on him.

Kellen Moore and the development of 3, 2 and 1 year QB's is one of my must watch with keen interest developments this season. Not as keen in checking out the Cheerleaders and seeing who might have put on a few ounces, yes, I peruse it that closely. Not down to grams just yet but if these new contacts are eagle eye good, that's next.
@Floatyworm wants a love button for this one.

Calling audibles isn’t technically unique in football but it is unique to every individual QB calling them because it is determined by defensive playcalling vs position on field. To say that Romo didn’t develop and design his own form of playcalling means Romowas a system QB which from watching and hearing Romo he seems to be a risk vs reward type of QB. Romo took chances with his throws in a very well known conservative style offense. Garrett is a conservative style coach. Garretts system works with having the O line and RB eating yards and taking time off the clock. Romo makes the throws that counters the conservative approach.

You know those Idaho guys. I'd hold out for a Mercedes Benz, E-class minumum. screw the ring:laugh:

What you are talking about is not a scheme design,or the creation of an offense, it is making individual choices within an existing scheme. Romo may not change to the same play as another QB would, but that doesn’t mean he created the offense.

I’ve said this since the 12-4, following the 8-8 three-peat...

UNLESS this team completely collapses (think: 3-13 season and/or 0-8 start)...AND Jerry Jones can’t come up with an excuse for Jason Garrett (see: 2015/no Romo and 2017/Zeke suspension)...the soon-to-be 76yo JJ will NOT fire Garrett and then start over, at then-age @77yo, with a new head coach, assistants, and system.

As long as Garrett can stay close to 8-8, Jerry will fire everyone else before JG walks the plank.

Good for you for holding out. Chastity is a virtue. You probably shouldn’t procreate anyway.

Might be and we might be in the hunt next season like 4 teams were this time picking them in the top 10. I am really in the middle on Prescott but then I've seen him play a lot and none of this is new.

He's in that no man's land part of his contract in his 3rd year, usually the 4th for a 1st rounder. They must decide if he's the guy and I do not believe they are as sold on him as they present to us. They know better than we which throws he should be making and ones that he has to make.

The key for me is one word, Ya know how they like to say "he can make all the throws"? I don't see the word "consistently" used enough and I do not see that with Dak and I've never seen that. I think Moore has got his work cut out for him because every DC is going to force the game into Dak's hands. I like him and am pulling for him but I am not sold on him. I never was, not even in that amazing rookie season.

Being something of a Dak admirer, I'm prone to blaming many of his problems on the OL for their fairly shoddy pass protection last year but then, he might very possibly not enjoy the advantage of that excuse in 2018. The improved backup O-line help should help, if need be.

For his sake and that of the team, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll return to his former self and have us putting his 2017 less-than-impressive performances squarely in the rear view mirror. Here's hoping he'll do just that and help us to, at least, see a playoff game or two in the process.

I actually put more blame on the O coaching than the OL. There was questionable play calling aplenty last season.

And then, there's that as well. Linehan will have more talent to work with this year, so hopefully he'll make the most of it. He just might be obliged to.

JG said Moore visited a number of QBs leading up to the draft and really connected with White. I think he's actually suited for coaching. He's personable, seems to understand the game, just didn't have the physical tools to play at the highest level. We'll see.
bingo

He will likely put in a huge anount of hours.

I get the feeling Wade Wilson was a 9 to 5 type employee.

For years I was screaming for the FO to replace Wade Wilson. In 2016, Moore and Romo both in IMO did more for Dak's success than Wilson. Maybe Moore can relate to today's younger QB's better than Wilson can. Guess only time will tell

I’ve always been curious about the sometimes intense dislike of Wilson. Do fans even know what The day to day duties of the QB coach is, and outside of Rom o and Dak, what talent did he have to work with? This post makes me wonder what evidence we have that Wilson couldn’t relate to today’s young QB.

All you have to do is go watch Boise State footage when Kellen was the QB. Of course we all know that Kellen didn't have an NFL arm, but his timing and anticipation was incredible. Reminded me a lot of Kurt Warner and the Rams greatest show on turf era.

Boise State's creativity on offense was all Kellen. He had a lot of freedom and input into designing the plays. Just go on YouTube and see it for yourself.

I can't wait to see what our offense does this year. Providing the OL stays healthy and Dak regaining his confidence, you are going to see a new and far more creative passing game. The moves the Cowboys made by shedding Dez and with the retirement of Witten, this will be a new era and it has the emergence of Kellen's brain all over it. I'm stoked!
