We are finally doing what we've been needing to do

Getting something for our players we were getting rid of anyway, and cutting players who are not producing or are underproducing.

Ward trade. Look, Switzer was not making this team. Period. We traded a player who was not making our team for a player who was not making their team. Will he work out? Don't know of course, but great move bringing him in to see. Nothing lost.

Tavon trade: We had a ton of draft picks. They simply were mostly not going to make the team. Why not dump a 6th for a guy who has major speed? Can his issues be resolved? Who knows, but we only spent a late draft pick on him. Great trade.

Dez: He wasn't producing, for whatever reason, and didn't fit. Doesn't matter why any more, it was time to dump the salary and move on. This beats the hades out of paying him for subpar production, which we've been guilty of several times in the past. Good move.

Tough moves have to be made for any NFL franchise, and it appears we may be on the way to making them.
Is this a fake post? It's a little positive but it's not negative. I'm confused coming from you. Just setting us up?

Yep, agree 100%. To me the Dez cut was totally obvious and a year too late. These are easy, easy moves that should not be difficult at all. Nice the see they are doing what is best for the team. Jerry is emotional and it appears he has less and less influence over the team. Its a breath of fresh air.

Oh Lordy.

What is so great about Garrett? I get it that you think he is better than most think. But you have to admit there is nothing special about him. As one of the proudest franchises in the NFL we deserve the best. And Garrett is not it. And no I don't subscribe to the theory that he is the best we could ever expect with Jerry.

ksk, couldn't agree more but I do disagree with those that think this is all Son and McClay and Booger is fading. I believe he's every bit as much in charge as he's ever been but he's been listening to different voices.
Jerry passed the torch a few years ago. Remember JF/Zach Martin?

It's a good trend. About time says I.

You seem unable to differentiate between intelligent constructive criticism and negativism. Almost to the point of narcissistic personality disorder.

Good post. Good points. Stephen's taking control. I know you don't think as highly of him as I do.

while i agree, i wish we could have gotten something for Dez but guessing that other teams didn't see his contract as viable either which is why we didn't...so that makes sense.

We are also reaching the point where we finally are done with bad contracts and just about out of dead money hell (next year)...so now we need to shift the approach from getting rid of older underperforming vets to getting value out of younger guys that havent earned their 2nd contract...

stamp of approval

With whom do you replace him with?

Is this a similar strategy the New England Patsies have employed for the last 15 or so years?

I'm being a bit rhetorical of course. Is the FO trying to have a similar strategy to NE? I say yes. The chink in the armor though is coaching and specifically head coaching (although I'm not enamored with the OC and DC either).

The coach is the whole ball of wax. Every team has to spend the same amount of money so talent cannot accumulate for long on any one team. The difference between winners and losers is the ability of the coaches to motivate players and scheme. This is where Belechikkie separates from guys like Garret.

You seem to be unable to know the difference between constant, every day, every thread, every post negativity vs. a balance between being negative and realizing the positives.

we cut Emmitt smith and Demarcus ware..this isn't new bro.. maybe your weren't born yet..theyve made tough moves in the past..sure JJ is apt to keep his Players he was close and loyal too but they have cut many players in the past before they wanted to be cut..

I'm not praising the team in this case.

Certainly not for "getting something for our players". In fact, few teams do it worse.

This team had 13 Pro Bowl players in 2007, and not a one of them was ever converted into anything other than dead cap space.

Ware was an elite pass rusher this team released for nothing. Denver scooped him up and won a Super Bowl.

Romo was a top 10 Quarterback that this team got nothing but dead cap space for. Same for Bryant, same for Witten.

If anything, this team holds on to long until the player is nothing more than cap liability. They're late, not early.

I don’t think it’s so much the negative take on Garrett, but rather the hiring of Richard as HC without blinking an eye.

One of the biggest criticisms of Garrett was that Jerry hired him to “learn on the job”. In that respect, wouldn’t hiring Richard be the same thing? At this point in his career, he’s done no more (1 coordinator position) than Garrett had done at the same stage of his career.

At least that’s the “O Lordy” feeling for me.

true those are fans saying this, my bet is Kris will be the DC by years end or for 2019 before hes made HC..he came here to be the guy meaning DC..now if garetts let go im sure he will be considered but the cowboys should look for Real seasoned HC, maybe from College that can bring some new energy to this team and willing to promote Richards to DC
