This morning on First Things First with Chris Carter and Nick Wright the Randy Gregory Re-instatement topic came up and i must say based on Chris Carters commentary i am very happy for and really proud ( not to sound condescending ) of 94.

Chris Carter stated he was actually personally involved directly with Randy's recovery - we all know this is a very personal life mission for Chris Carter since he has been there done that ! Although he was sketchy on the exact details he made it crystal clear Randy was in a great place !

Nick Wright then paused the segment to get some specific details on exactly what chris knew. Chris said he knows, and was directly involved with particular program gregory completed and that it has a high success rate. He also felt so good about where Randy was he wrote a personal letter to Roger Goodell on Randy's behalf ! He had in the past spoken with goodell about needing more success stories like him and guys like gregory to make it back.

Chris has been very vocal about when guys mess up in the past no matter who it is - and he cuts them no slack !

The fact he backed Gregory publicly wrote a letter on his behalf is awesome !

I have stated a couple times on this forum the disappointment i had based on gregory's comments and promises when he was first drafted. I ALWAYS hoped Gregory would get clean for himself personally regardless of football. Never doubted the talent gregory had he and lawrence together will be a dynamic duo.

I am so happy for Gregory on a personal level football aside and am pulling for him 100% ! I really do believe things are different now in Randy's world although i don't know him personally or anyone associated with him, it just seemed like Gregory did what he needed to do for himself - it seems like the support he needs is in place and if Chris Carter is backing him that says a lot. I know lots of people do not like Chris but like i said before this is a very personal issue for Chris - so Randy could not pull the wool over Chris's eyes, and he went to Goodell on Gregory's behalf.

Randy Gregory ( PROUD OF YOU - WAY TO GO ) - Hope to see you rocking the 94 again soon !

This segment video link is not on youtube yet i just watched the segment 15 minutes ago but i am sure it will be there after today so sorry i cannot post !

Like many fans, I hope Randy Gregory the football player is back on the field sometime this upcoming season.

But even more than that, I hope Randy Gregory the person has finally arrived at a place where he can live his life without the torment that often accompanies bi-polar depression sufferers who often struggle with everyday living.

I can't see how any true Cowboys fan wouldn't want to see Gregory come back and be good enough to make this team. He, and possibly Tapper, are the only two guys that possess that pure rush end, fast twitch edge player that we have coveted for years.

This defense would be significantly better if one of those two guys could line up opposite Lawrence and terrorize QBs.

It's a long shot either are that type of player but I am certainly rooting for them.

I don't see how anyone seriously can't. I know people can be angry, frustrated, and emotional by what's happened with Gregory in the past, and that's understandable to a certain degree.

But as a fan, and a fellow human being, how can you not root for Randy Gregory to turn his life around and succeed?

It's certainly better for him to use his God-given abilities to make a career for himself and earn a living.

And the Cowboys would be a much better team with a pass rusher like Gregory has shown to be out there on the field.

Everybody wins.

(Except maybe opposing quarterbacks)

I hope Randy Gregory has got his life in order and has a great life going forward.

As far as Randy Gregory the Pro football player, he never showed anything on the field in the 14games he played for us, so I don't really care if he never plays another down.

Good thing we didn't judge Lawrence by his first fourteen games.

He was in the same boat recovery wise. Nice post.

randy's crime was he liked to smoke weed. he isn't alone. several of the last nominees to the supreme court have admitted to it. bush jr. admitted to taking more than one kind of drug. it's legal in some states though not in others. anyone remember pro bowl cowboys center mark stepnowski??? all in all it's much ado about nothing. hope he's quickly reinstated. shows up ready to practice and goes on to have a great year.
The way he’s talked about you would think he was a serial rapist. It’s just weed! They all smoke it it’s just about getting caught. In 5 years it’ll be legal across the nation.

Tank had 3 times as many sacks, more tackles, and almost twice as many QB hurries in his first 14 games

LOL.

Tank had 3 sacks in his first 14 games. 3. Compared to Gregory's 1. Hardly a huge difference. And it was 25 tackles versus 20. Again hardly a big difference.

And something tells me you were likely calling Lawrence a bust back then too.

If you do not think that 3 sacks and 13 hurries is a lot better than 1 sack and seven hurries in 14 games then there is no reason to try and talk to you about it.

Not sure how it would work out, but I hope there’s some list we can put Gregory on if he gets reinstated to bring him along slowly. Reinstatement is enough of an uphill battle, getting back into football shape and the flow of things will be another. Would be nice to have a fresh and in shape Gregory comeback week 6 and provide a boost.

If he gets reinstated at all of course
