as a fellow human being, i am glad Randy seems to have gotten his life together

as a Dallas Cowboys fan, if you aren't willing to dedicate yourself 100% to football then gtf0
I don't find anything wrong with athletes having interests outside of their job. Just like you and I do. The problem is when those outside interest AFFECT their job. Its complete emotional fanspeak to demand that athletes do nothing but focus all their time on football.

This morning on First Things First with Chris Carter and Nick Wright the Randy Gregory Re-instatement topic came up and i must say based on Chris Carters commentary i am very happy for and really proud ( not to sound condescending ) of 94.

Chris Carter stated he was actually personally involved directly with Randy's recovery - we all know this is a very personal life mission for Chris Carter since he has been there done that ! Although he was sketchy on the exact details he made it crystal clear Randy was in a great place !

Nick Wright then paused the segment to get some specific details on exactly what chris knew. Chris said he knows, and was directly involved with particular program gregory completed and that it has a high success rate. He also felt so good about where Randy was he wrote a personal letter to Roger Goodell on Randy's behalf ! He had in the past spoken with goodell about needing more success stories like him and guys like gregory to make it back.

Chris has been very vocal about when guys mess up in the past no matter who it is - and he cuts them no slack !

The fact he backed Gregory publicly wrote a letter on his behalf is awesome !

I have stated a couple times on this forum the disappointment i had based on gregory's comments and promises when he was first drafted. I ALWAYS hoped Gregory would get clean for himself personally regardless of football. Never doubted the talent gregory had he and lawrence together will be a dynamic duo.

I am so happy for Gregory on a personal level football aside and am pulling for him 100% ! I really do believe things are different now in Randy's world although i don't know him personally or anyone associated with him, it just seemed like Gregory did what he needed to do for himself - it seems like the support he needs is in place and if Chris Carter is backing him that says a lot. I know lots of people do not like Chris but like i said before this is a very personal issue for Chris - so Randy could not pull the wool over Chris's eyes, and he went to Goodell on Gregory's behalf.

Randy Gregory ( PROUD OF YOU - WAY TO GO ) - Hope to see you rocking the 94 again soon !

This segment video link is not on youtube yet i just watched the segment 15 minutes ago but i am sure it will be there after today so sorry i cannot post !

Gregory has always come across as a smart, kind guy. He is not the prototypical druggie thug. People seem to place a low probability on him having any success. If not for the drug issue he was a top 5 pick. I think the guy is going to surprise some people if he stayed in good shape and wants to play football. Going on the record now - if reinstated and if he makes the team, Randy Gregory is going to have at least 6 sacks and be a key cog in the defense.

Chris Carter was booted out of Philadelphia due to his drug problems, and then proceeded to have a Hall of Fame career in Minnesota with mostly marginal quarterbacks throwing him the ball. The best case scenario is that Gregory can follow in his footsteps and create a Hall of Fame type career from this point forward. He has the talent, if only he can harness it and bring it to the games.

The possibilities of a Defensive Line with 3 All-Pro players (Gregory, Irving and Lawrence) that will match the production of the Cowboys offensive line would quickly put the Cowboys into the position of being perennial contenders.

If you do not think that 3 sacks and 13 hurries is a lot better than 1 sack and seven hurries in 14 games then there is no reason to try and talk to you about it.

3 sacks compared to 1 sack is not a huge difference over a 14 game period no matter how many times you want to claim it.

Let's also note that Lawrence had way more snaps his first 14 games than Gregory had. So on a per snap basis, Gregory was certainly close to Lawrence. Gregory had 310 snaps. Lawrence had over 500.

The point here isn't to say Gregory is or will be better. The point is making sweeping judgments from 14 games is pretty silly.

What worries me most is that all this time and effort has been put into Gregory................ Only to have him turn out to be a JAG. Something that could very EASILY happen btw considering how much time he has missed. I was never really all that impressed with him as a player in the first place let alone how rusty he will be now. I dunno,.... hope for the best I guess but sure arent counting on much.

I hope Randy Gregory has got his life in order and has a great life going forward.

As far as Randy Gregory the Pro football player, he never showed anything on the field in the 14games he played for us, so I don't really care if he never plays another down.
Didn't show anything on the field..... Haha in the few games he played he showed pass rush ability more so then most on our DL not named Lawrence or Irving. Not only that but he has the talent and potential to be better then both them guys.

Like I said ......... you do not get it, so there is no point arguing with you about it.

That's your rebuttal? Hahahaha.

Fact is Lawrence got killed around here for his start. People threw dirt on him and called him a bust after his first couple of seasons.

In other words, making judgments off of a small sample size is pretty silly at this point.

What showed that? The 1 sack in 14 games? or the 7 hurries in 14 games?

I have a feeling you people are going off his college performances ....... which unfortunately was in 2014

He was a beast in college .......... he has been mediocre in the pro's combined with unreliability.

LOL.

That's your comeback? Hahahaha.

You cannot argue with someone who thinks the number 3 is not greater than the number 1 ........ go argue with someone who does not understand basic math

I understand and agree disliking guys such as Greg Hardy, Tyreke Hill, Joe Mixon, etc.

But I cant for the life of me understand the people that carry a personal vendetta against the kid. There could be a plausible reason, but I've yet to hear one.
It’s the same reason people threw down some hate on Witten when he announced his retirement. Some fans don’t look at professional athletes as real people with emotions and problems just like us.

Some fans have strange, mythical expectations. Players should never have opinions that differ, they should only do what the fans want them to do, they should play despite any health risks, and when the player’s usefulness to the team is over, too many fans care nothing about the player when they’re gone.

I guess that’s just the way most people look at all celebrities. They never realize no matter how famous, wealthy or successful someone is, they are all still basically just like us but they have fame, fortune and celebrity.

Hawt take.

NFL players pretty much reach their full potential after their first 14 games. Nothing else to see, I guess.

Good points. I'll add that some fans expect players to be role models for their children. I always suggest the opposite, but that's just me.
