More excuses for the lack of talent on defense. We have nothing at Safety (this has been the theme in Dallas for 15 years now), no 1-tech worth a damn, and no DE outside of D-Law who is worth a damn (Taco and Crawford are not some players that should make anyone feel we are content at the position).

You can't blame Martin for lack of a 1-tech, that's entirely Marinelli's fault. He doesn't want a run stuffing 1-tech. They probably could've got a mean DT but they opted for Taco instead, and that's not the 1st time Marinelli has passed on a chance for a good DT.

Exactly, and there were plenty to be had in this draft and the one before, if Marinelli wanted one. He just seems to really not like those kinds of players, for some reason. Good job we have Price, I suppose, but what if he gets hurt again?

Not to rain on your parade here mate but the word some when it pertains to how many question marks is conservative to say the least for our Boys. Question marks (?) apply to Dak, our LB and Def-line and our DB our WR and TE.....and throw in Kicker also ..thats a lot of ? to have for team some here are saying are playoff bound? Keep it real as its the only path to true glory and not Jack & Bean stalk glory....
All true, but thankfully Martin fits none of those descriptions. I do agree, as an aside, on the fear of Bailey. Hopefully he rebounds like Mason Crosby did

As far as Bailey goes, I do think that our coaches rushed him back too quickly. It's not the first time that they've done that, but, yes, I think they expected him to be the same player he was even though I don't think that he was fully healthy. As a high school kicker, I can attest to the fact that he was probably not fully ready yet. We just had a rough go with the kicker filling in for him, and Garrett forgot how to coach without Bailey. Unfortunately, bad things happen when you rush a kicker back too quickly. Not the first time he's done that with players, is it?

If those are the numbers then I retract my admitting I was wrong. The cap hits should be evened out more rather than taking bigger cap hits later in the deal.

A single cap hit of 20 million for a Guard is outrageous, even a few years from now. Cap hits need to be distributed more evenly so that later years we aren't taking a cap hit at a cost much higher than his salary.

Jerry GM 101.....20 million Cap hit for a G amazing simply amazing.....What does Zeke ( Play-maker) get 40 million a year?????
Then comes FA market time and we wonder why we don't spend the bucks and sign a impact Defensive player...here's why...WE HAVE NO CAP...it's all invested in the Dallas Wall of Cap bankruptcy.....

No take backs

The cap will be 40-50m higher by 2022 and ZMartin will either be cut, restructured or a just another well paid Champion

He had one year left at 9.34m so you have to add that to 6/84m and get the 7/93.4m

Depends what you're trying to do. If you're evaluating the extension for value, this year at the cheaper price was already locked in.

You can't look at one year for one player in isolation and decide that a large cap hit is a problem. As long as we're not up against the cap, cap hits are easy enough to take when we want to, and put off when we want to.

They said they specifically factored this year in when making him the highest paid

DAL does not like setting the salary at any position and this was a compromise

Everyone criticizes the TCrawford deal at 5/45m but it really was 6/45.6m.....he has 3/21m left not 3/27m

40-50 million? Theres no for sure telling if the cap will rise. The Players Union and owners will be renegotiating soon and the possibility that there is a standoff is high due to the national anthem controversy.

Restructuring is only a temporary fix and doesnt help the cap in future seasons. Eventually those cap numbers must be met.

I stand by my original argument.

Just don't see a reason to reduce his cap hit this year when we have the space. By having his cap hit higher in early years, in 4 years he could be had at a bargain price, especially with the likelihood the cap rises.

He conveniently skips the early 6m and 7m cap hits that create even more space to sign players to help today.......NOT 5 years from now

He'll be well into his thirties toward those final years. Good chance he doesn't get the final year or two of that contract. Which is good.

Crawford is a prime example as to why I'm against restructuring. Dallas shouldve been out of his deal last year, but it was too expensive to release him because of past restructures to his deal.

His cap hit is way above his salary.

You can stand by anything you want but are wrong on all counts

The cap is guaranteed to rise.....the TV deals are locked in
Restructuring is smart.....paying an extra 10m this year instead of 4 years from now is stupid
Having the space this year is 100x better than not having it......the trade deadline is a buyer's market for teams with cap space

Crawford would count as 7.3 million in dead money and only 1.8 million in cap savings with a cap hit of 9.1 million.

If you believe he is worth that based upon his production over the last few years, you need to re-assess.
