I'll just go on record here and say I think Barkley will be a bust as the 2nd pick in the draft.
To me, Elliott was the better prospect.

Ga'head, naif, think that.
I love Zeke.
But Barkley is being called a "generational" player. He will bloody our lines for the next 6 years he is that good. And he Weill beat us once a year with his running.

Zeke is very good but I haven't been impressed with his receiving skills. Now how much of that is the coaching staff...

Zeke will out gain him in every game we play them

Barkley 21 carries 44 yards vs Ohio State last year. Besides the kickoff return, he was not much of a factor.

He had more hype even if he wasn't the best back coming out of college last year. His intangibles cannot be denied, but the media gave him guite a boost.

Emmitt heard the same mess from fans and others that did not watch him play. Dallas has always had average to below average backs, but that line!!!!!!

What's a naif? If you're going to insult me, at least let me know it, you dumb Brit!!!... lol j/k

Barkley couldn't average 6.0 yards per carry in college. That doesn't seem generational to me.
He won't be going up against Akron, Indiana and Maryland this year.
Everybody thinks he's the next big thing. I'm saying he'll be a bust.
Nobody will remember whether I'm right or wrong... lol

Interesting question.
On the surface 2nd overall trumps 4th overall.
But Zeke was picked after 2 QB's who are looking like legit franchise guys and a DE with 23 sacks His 1st 28 games and just before an All-Pro CB.
How good is the top of this draft?
With what the Giants turned down in trade offers in order to select Him, Barkley's gonna have to be AP type good for it not to be a bad choice.

As a prospect, the projected ceiling for Barkley is higher than it was for Elliott. But as of now, Elliott is the better pick because he's shown he can excel at the NFL level - Barkley is still an unknown.

I'd be happy with either one and you can toss Gurley in as well.

Hard to compare because Elliott played on a better team and better offense but he was a complete back with Meyer saying he was the best RB without the ball he'd ever coached, that's high praise. It was hard for defense to key on Elliott because of the other parts of the offense but other than TE, Penn St. only had Barkley.

I watched Barkley play quite a bit and he's a freak. Both Elliott and Gurley were hurdlers so they come by that athleticism honestly and can do things most other backs can't do but Barkley's balance and agility for his size is mind boggling.

I'd take either one but throw in the person side of it and give me Barkley. He was more mature at 16 than Elliott was at 21.

As to which will be better in the NFL, we'll have to wait and see but Elliott got to go to a team with an OL and Barkley gets to go to a team with the best receiving corps in the league and I would bet Barkley's OC will get the ball in his hands via the pass more than the Cowboys did with Elliott. In fact, I am predicting that little Mr. Hates Kicking Nets is going to have a meltdown on the sideline at least once because they got Barkley to lean on and run the offense through him, not through the WR.
