Hill: Irving is not reporting to start of training camp

If he's in rehab treatment, doesn't that indicate that his substance abuse problems are ongoing, which likely means we'll see a longer suspension handed down for another violation sometime soon?

Or is this a condition of his current violation? I would have thought if that was the case that he would have been put into a program in time to be out by the start of training camp. This whole mess just doesn't give me much confidence that he can ever be counted on, and I'm a fan of his talent.

Jihad Ward might be the biggest steal of the offseason for us. He's literally an Irving clone physically and if Irving was undrafted and got this good under Rod there's no reason a 2nd round talent who's looked great with Rod before can't at least be an above average 3 for us. I think the team really played it smart with this one.

Fish (on theFan) says he's been told it doesn't have to do with a big drug addiction. He thinks it has more to do with mental health counseling/therapy. He also says he's really fond of the guy.

I wasnt suggesting he not put family first but at the same time, he could responsibly set up his daughter with family or perhaps hire a nanny. There's no excuse for not showing up to work when you've had time to hash out logistics.

The idea that he's "not showing up to work", when he's already cleared his absence with the team, makes no sense. This is not a surprise for his bosses.

Also, the idea that the solution to this is to dump his toddler on family or a stranger and skip town is kind of crazy to me. A kid that young has no idea what's going on. I couldn't imagine doing that to my 1 year old son because "people on on internet might be angry with me".

If and when Irving shows up to training camp in Oxnard, California, he's going to need to hire either a family member(s) or a nanny to take care of his daughter (whether at home in Texas or close to him in California) either way, so I respectfully don't understand your complaint.

When did Ward look great with Rod "before"?

One source close to Irving tells me that the absence is mostly about "getting his mind where it needs to be,'' and underplayed any drug concerns.

Coached him at the Senior Bowl. Rod is responsible for the Raiders taking him so high.

LOL.

So one week?

Hey I am hopeful on the kid too but we really go to extreme lengths to come up with how good these guys are going to be.

JaneSlater just reported Irving has been in and out of rehab this off season.
But it is not known if he is in rehab now. And the same team that has worked and is working with Randy Gregory is working with Irving.

You're right. There absolutely isn't. Think of how many people have managed to not only raise and support not one, but multiple children, and still somehow manage to go to work? Without the benefit of having jobs that pay them millions. How do they do it and this guy can't?

We sure do have patience with players with issues. What's the rush right?

It's amazing how people are ready to condemn a person prior to knowing the facts. A CZ staple.

It's funny how so many assume it's not a train wreck when you have already seen him involved in so many train wrecks. It works both ways. I'll bank on the train wreck with him until it is proven different.

I like Fish, but he was also super compassionate with Dez too.

Most likely what we'll do is move Collins back to 3-tech next year and he'll struggle because he wasted the past two years being a mediocre 1-tech. Then we'll find another Nick Hayden to stopgap at 1-tech.
That's how we do bro. That's how we do
