You're really reaching if you're pulling out team passing yardage rankings and trying to attach a WR coach's value to that.

His main job is to teach technique/route running to his receivers. What the QB/offensive coordinator/head coach does with it from there is up to them.

I'm not a card-carrying Sanjay fanboy yet, but so far I like what I'm seeing from Lal.
Stole my thunder with this statement. SLs job is to maximize the ability of the wide receiver to get open. He is not an OC.

And there are always scapegoats for Dez who happens to be a mental midget who is out of a job.
Dez hurt Dez. Both in Dallas and when he turned down the Ravens. SELF INFLICTED WOUNDS. He showed and left little doubt about how emotionally imbalanced he can be. The proofs in the pudding as they say. He sure talks alotta smack for a guy who vanishes in key moments and for a guy that refuses to hone his route running skills. No one is buyin what your selling Dez. SHUT UP.

And yet, here we are moving WRs all over the place and trying to revamp the passing game, because it was absolute garbage while the Garrett defenders kept barking how nothing was wrong. Even when he got demoted from playcallinh, they spun it.

The delusion is strong for the Garrett homers..

don't think we have that many JG homers as you think. I think they are just loyal to the team and its success. I don't care who the heck the HC is as long as we get it done.

If they were, they would call him out like they blame Dez and other scapegoats. Garrett is number 1 why the team lacks success.

So spare me..

He's been coaching in the league for nearly a decade, and has bounced around every couple years. He's now on his 5th team. Let's see what kind of production he's had in the NFL.

Team Receiving Rank By Year

2017 - 30th
2016 - 31st
2015 - 29th
2014 - 32nd
2013 - 30th
2012 - 30th
2011 - 11th
2010 - 22nd
2009 - 29th

As you can see, his groups have produced near bottom, or rock bottom production in receiving yardage. As far as I can tell, he's never produced a 1000 yard receiver in his career, although I didn't take the time to research this fully.

To be fair, he has been in some bad places, with lackluster QB play, but looking at his body of work, it is hard to get excited about what he has done. When looking at the talent on this roster, it is hard to get excited about the prospects of him coaching them up.

I was not a Derek Dooley fan by any means, but to think an NFL position coach doesn't teach technique is asinine. Under Dooley's watch, Dez, Williams, and Beasley all put up career numbers.

I think it was time for Dooley to go, but the Sanjay Lal hype is unwarranted and frankly, he is going to disappoint a lot of people.

Excuse me if I give him a chance to disappoint me or surprise me with the work he is doing with WR.

I dunno if I would call it delusion as much as being a passionate HOPEFUL FAN. I think its well known that JG is on a very short leash this year. No need to beat a dead horse.

What does that accomplish? Finger pointing? Its a new team and a new year. Turn the page, and give it a chance. If he fails, and he prolly will, I will be 100 percent with ya. Lets try to look forward, not back. Be positive.

look at 2014,2016. Does he get the credit as well? I'm with ya...on his failures, but don't we need to be fair and acknowledge the success too? For me..I take a wait and see approach. If he stinks after 5 games...kick him out of the star asap.

nope..commenting on what Dez done TO DEZ and why he isn't employed. At least that's what I mean. I don't speak for everyone else. Dez was a good fit here when he was right. I was a huge Dez guy. Love his heart..problem was his talent tailed off and he thinks he's worth more money than he is. He's taking no responsibility at all for why he is unemployed. Its not Sean Lee..ITS ON HIM. He isn't why we missed the playoffs to be fair to Dez. The reason was the oline and Zeke ,missing.

These facts that don’t really mean anything? No, not a big fan. I’m willing to give him a year or so to find out if he’s any good. People like you that think he already sucks are just trouble makers.

I don't dislike the guy or think he sucks, I think his relevance is in question. I will not give him credit for success or blame for failure. That's how important I think he is.

A player has no business being a WR at any level if they can't run routes. Let alone at the NFL level. If a WR has trouble getting open it's for other reasons. They already know what they have to do, but sometimes they are just not as good at doing these things as other players, or the defenders are that much better. It's not due to a lack of knowledge. It's a lack of talent and game planning first and foremost.

Why is it that every time we get excited people on this board have to tell us why we are wrong to hope? We must have a condition where we aren't allowed to have ho hope as a fan base.

Some of us have called him out. That debacle in Atlanta fell directly on the coaches and I called it out as others did. The difference is we don’t do it CONSTANTLY like you do.

Because Dez is to blame for much of last half of last year. There’s a reason he’s not in the NFL anymore. He’s a cancer and everyone outside of those like yourself who are obessessed with Cowboy negativity, can see it

Congratulations for calling 'him out', when Captain Obvious calls him out.

Is this like your call out of Garrett in the Atlanta game? Dez is to blame for 'much of last half of last year', but Garrett in ten years gets the Atlanta game.. Your shtick is predictable..

Dez was offered a three year contract with the Ravens, which he turned down. His not being signed, apart from the fact of the timing of his release which shows pettiness on the part of Dallas, is that he wants a one-year deal and anybody that actually followed the situation without rose-colored glasses, the latter being those who wish it so much that Dez can't actually play because they need excuses for Dak, knew the time frame is roughly training camp and this late time-frame when he would sign. He wants to play for a contender and plenty of players right now are trying to recruit him, among them Antonio Brown with the Steelers.

That's why he was just spotted at the Patriots training camp recently considering their WR situation...

Dez is in no rush considering he's already getting paid 8 million for not even playing this year...
