I have been spoiled by our plug and play first round pick O-Line. Fredbeard, Tyron, and Martin.

It was this kids first game but I did not like what Williams was showing. Gave up plenty of pressure. Got Dak sacked. Got turned around. Pushed around. He will probly catch on and be fine. I think Collins took a few to get it. But if this trend continues then I am not sure I want him starting. We have Fleming and Marcus. Even if it’s not there natural position they could plug in there and do better.

Love or hate Dak, he is the best we got and played well. 3 for 3 and a pretty sweet deeper pass for a TD. Those plays will keep ya from stacking a box. Other than that it looked like last year later game plan. O well. It was preseason game 1!!

Again I am not getting down on him but was hoping for a better performance from the hype about that first round quality we found in the second round. And I don’t like his number. The 50s? It just looks like a LB number. I kept thinking who is that? Is Jaylon playing guard. Lol

Bye the bye, Jaylon looks like a beast. What a dramatic difference from last year.

Not worried at all just a little red flag on Williams.

Your thoughts? Don’t jump down my throat people, was just my opening drive observation.

Deforest Buckner is 1 hell of a task for your 1st game in the NFL...dude is a freak of nature. He’s capable of beating pretty much any guard.
That’s what I was figuring. The 49ers look like they have a pretty good o-line.

Speed of the game is always a new learning experience for these kids. They all will get beat, its how they handle the next game. And dont think the rookie wont get beat once the regular season comes around. Anyone that thinks rookies just step in and play all pro dont understand the game. Martin is a outlier.

Relax, brother Glim. Connor Williams stepped it up and played well after that early sack that he gave up. After that play, I didn't see him het beat again, which is outstanding for a rookie starting at Left Guard.
I am kool. Lol. He did better just didn’t like seeing him get beat that quick. Man Chaz looked bad out there again.

Yeah that’s what I was meaning about getting spoiled. These others step in and just dominate like it’s nothing to them. Lol

At least after this game I wont have to hear anymore how our secondary is going to be one of the best in the NFL this year. LOL

There are definitely some good things about preseason.

The more he plays the more he will learn. So it was good to see him get extended reps after they took the other starters out on the OL. It's a new position for him but for the most part he had a solid night.

I bought NFL Gamepass and I watched just the first two drives of the game this morning. Williams was bad. He had 1 good play and that was the Dak to Gallup TD. He was getting manhandled.
But to add I watched our defense play and I thought number 64 Woods stood out. The guy freed up space for Jaylon to make a great play. And was getting some decent penetration. I think this guy has a chance to be a real good find.
I watched only the first two drives and those were the two players my eye was drawn to.

What did you think about how they played? I saw the middle of the field open but I think it was after the 1s were finished.

During the course of a real game, I'm sure (hopeful) they will scheme to give him some help also. I'm guessing they left him alone a little last night for him to get a taste. Plus, he will have the veterans on the line to give him advice during the games/season.

First night jitters, for him and me. Lol

Think he is a guy who will benefit greatly in a full offseason strength training regime with the Cowboys.

The talent is there, just needs to bulk up a bit.

There was an intersting comment by one of the commentators last night regarding Williams' play. Something to the effect that Williams showed excellent footwork for a rookie. Where he falls short is upper body strength, which he compensates for with above average technique.

He will need time to acclimate to this game. You just have to avoid rookies getting hyped up here in preseason and we have to realize most of these guys aren't going to be beating pros unless in rare cases. I'll give him time to develop.

I agree with you CWilliams but he'll figure it out.

The good news is, he can add strength easily. Easier to get stronger than to teach footwork and technique.

Former Cowboy Marcus Spears had some solid insight on Williams.

Said he liked what he saw. He had great movement with his feet and positioning. At this point in career, he said most guys lack the upper body strength to dominate. (not many Zach Martins)

I trust Spears knowledge as a former player and he did awesome breaking the game down.
