This. I hate the ******* recency effect. People just completely forget 2016 and only focus on last year. Dak did nothing to lose to Green Bay... the pass rush couldn't get home, the refs missed a blatant hold and the coverage couldn't hold up on 3rd & 20. The score was ********* 34 to 31, for crying out loud. Dak's only pick that game was on a jumped screen pass... how often does that happen?

....against a defense that was down 31-0 the following week early in the second quarter.

At this point the chatter about if Dak is a franchise QB or not is largely just noise. We'll find out in a few weeks if he can put up, or if we're going back into rebuilding mode.

Yet people on here and fans in general want to anoint Carson Wentz as some franchise QB and will be a threat for the next decade and practically already placing him in the HOF. Yet he has less accomplishments than Dak. And both have split head to head. So the same can be said about Wentz as well. He hasn't proven anything at all. People will point to he was on his way to an MVP season before he got hurt. And guess what, Dak was a finalist for NFL MVP his rookie year. I don't get the fascination with Wentz.

That's because Wentz is highly overrated and most base their opinion on him because of arm strength and not actually skill. His accuracy is terrible, bad decision making skills, struggles going through progressions, doesn't throw the ball with touch but instead tried to rocket every pass and crumbles in clutch situations. I rather have Dak who is much more durable and a much better leader. Dak has accomplished more with less talent and less coaching.

LOL.

This rant never stops being funny.

You have zero credibility on this issue.

Wentz would have been the NFL's MVP had he not been hurt last year.

Hopefully we can have comparable QB play this year. I loved Dak in his rookie year. After a good start, he struggled mightily in the second half.

I think he can come back and have a good year this year.

But trashing Wentz to prop up Dak is not a good argument.

Dak is a fine QB. He's not one of the best in the league. I am not sure why people struggle with admitting that.

In terms of Wentz, the best way to look at is this way................ switch QBs. If Philly had Dak and he had a great 2016 and then a so-so 2017 season and we had Wentz and he had a so-so 2016 and then a really good 2017, would you make the argument that they are on the same level?

I suspect you would not. You'd argue that Wentz is showing progression and Dak seems to have leveled off.

That's not to say Dak is a bad QB or whatever. Maybe he'll have a better year this year than Wentz? All I am trying to do is look at this logically and without any bias.

Based on last year the gap is more than big enough. Wentz was one pace for a season that only a handful of QBs have ever had. Dak played pretty average. May as well say the gap between Bledsoe and Romo wasn't all that big because - production wise - that's where we are at.

Wentz is a good QB, no doubt but they upgraded Wentz's WR corp and better play calling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ended up on Carson Wentz...I looked at the Eagles/Cowboys game because I didn't finish it and assumed Wentz just killed us all game.

Nope..
14/27 for a 52 completion percentage...with a whopping 168 yards for a 6.2 Yards per attempt, his second lowest (only next to NYG 5.7 Y/a]
Not saying Dak is as good or Wentz, cause right now I think Wentz is better atm, just makes me anxious and happy to see how our defense improves this year.
Wince sucks. Dak is better.

I agree that a big reason for Wentz success is the Philly coaching staff. The proof of that is the fact that they won the Super Bowl with Nick Foles. I still want to vomit thinking about it.

I think (hope) Dak will be fine. I do believe he is hampered by the coaches around him, as opposed to Wentz who benefits from his coaches. Dak will never be Rodgers, Brady or Brees. But he doesn't have to be. Just run the offense and minimize the mistakes.

He has shown that he can do that.

In just 13 games last year, Wentz had 33 TDs and only 7 ints.
Also a 101.9 QB rating.

Not bad.

I will be curious to see how defensive coorinators around the league adjust to Philly’s system, and specifically to Wentz.
They always adjust.
Ask Dak after 2016
Hard to throw INTs when one is only dinking-n-dunking.

"Wentz has a ring"...that some other QB won for Wentz in the playoffs. Since Wentz has a ring, does that mean he's better than someone like Romo who put up similar numbers and wins in his 2nd season as a starter back in 2007?
Just means Wentz has a ring

Wentz is miles ahead of Dak

There isnt a single thing that Dak is superior at except maybe durability

Based on what?

Dak certainly out played Wentz their rookie seasons.

Wentz had a better year last season, but he had his entire team and a very good D to help
Dak did not have Zeke, Tryron was out at a critical time. Dez was not what he was. Sean Lee was out some and the defense was still a work in progress.

Not that those should be excuses, but it all factors in.

I will wait and see what happens this year and go from there.

So basically Dak in year one, Wentz in year two.
This year three is entirely different. Suit them up, let them play it out.

Cooper the Pooper? Loool Yeah, that was a pick six alright, but I’m talking about Dak’s touch floaters off his back foot. That stuff has to stop. Romo did that too once in awhile, and just as costly. I’d like him to step “into” those throws and he’d be a much more lethal QB,with more velocity.
Only issue his mechanics suck at that also, when he loads up the ball flutters at best and is duck at worst. He just needs to concentrate on the normal mechanics and get the muscle memory.
