Gregory in trouble? **merged**

I'm sorry this is like fake news. Gregory has been meeting with team and league doctors every week since he has been reinstated. Yep, it is part of the deal the NFL made to reinstate him and there is always a chance the doctor says he need more therapy or counseling before he can play a regular season game. This isn't news.

Dreadful sensationalist reporting.

How? He reported that Gregory is meeting with a league doctor this morning. How is that sensationalizing?

Sounds like he's being tested this morning per the league drug policy for Stage 3 offenders.

If he tests clear, he's good to go.

If he tests positive, he's banned from football.

Simple.

Ooooo and he went AWOL for a while. Oooooo, what if he went out and smoked after not smoking for over a year. Ooooo. If he did then he did. He said he wanted to clean up and provide for his family. This is the quickest way to do that.

If it indeed is just a check in with a league doctor, that's typical BS from JJT.

The way he writes his tweet makes it sound like it's worse than it really is.
Yet it worked. Look at how many of you are talking about his tweet.

I’m not sure if anyone knows this but how long will it take for us to find out if he failed it or not

Based on the tweet above regarding the league policy on substance abuse it appears this is typical and it may appear JJT is a douchenozzle.
I understand what you're saying, but the fact is that Randy has already participated in contact drills and games (preseason). That being the case, he would have already had to have seen a league Dr. in order to be able to do those things. So why would he need to see a Dr. again? On one hand, this seems like nothing, but on the other, it seems like something...this seems strange to me.

Because he has phrased this piece that this not part of the process . We all know gregorys position regarding any future drug violations and this guy is pitching that this meeting is outside of the process.
This is a routine sceduled visit and the only "news" is if gregory fails the test, not the test itself.

You would have to show me where it's "typical" that a player's fate is decided by one "special meeting" just before the season starts. If you can do that, I'll accept your "league policy" theory.
Yep, have never seen that before.

It’s gonna be like this for the rest of his career. Always random tests, always visiting doctors. He has failed all his chances and now even though he is reinstated he will stay in the leagues “program” for the rest of his career. If he had failed a few less test then he would be out off the list after a year and back to normal in the NFL.

Actually if he goes 24 months without a fail then an NFL doctor can make the determination to take him out of the program

This meeting is standard protocol. But that doesn't mean it's a rubber stamp.

The doctor could determine he's not yet ready for the regular season. And his going AWOL may be part of that determination.

The timing of the meeting is simply because it's the start of the regular season. It's been long planned. But Gregory going missing for a few hours will likely be part of that conversation with the doctors.

We will find out before cut down day what his status is.

Gregory is in Stage 3 of the NFL substance abuse program. He will be regularly tested for the remainder of his career. So, if you are reading this Mr. Taylor, copy-and-paste the following from now on:

Cowboys DE Randy Gregory is scheduled to meet with a league doctor ______________ ____________ to determine whether he gets a chance to start the ________________ with the Cowboys on _______ _______ or he gets suspended again, __________ sources told ______ ______.

Just fill in the blanks. You are welcome.

All you would have had to do is read the league policies that have been posted several times in this thread
I read that post...I'm simply saying that until now, I had never heard of a player having to visit a league Dr. for a "final clearance" (nor did I know that such a requirement existed). That said, RG has already participated in contact drills and games, so this smacks of something else. It may turn out to be something, or nothing. For Gregory's sake, I hope it's nothing.
