This makes me happy and is a step in the right direction. There was a time when a player like him would have made the team on reputation and draft status alone even though out performed by younger players.

I think it does, signing him meant 1 less comp pick from this PAST offseason, I think either a 6th for Jonathan Cooper or a 7th for Kyle Wilber. Now that we cut him, he no longer counts

But you do when you sign a free agent who would've meant 1 less comp pick in 2019, and release him before the season starts. He is in essence removed from the equation.
