News: BTB: Dan Bailey wasn’t automatic for the Cowboys anymore which made his release possible

I can’t believe the people crying about this ... as harsh as it sounds... guys he’s a kicker... to me his decline has been obvious for years ... I love everything Bailey used to be but it’s time to move on.

What decline is that? The guy was 24-26 on FG attempts less then 50 yards in 2016. Most kickers would love to have that type of decline.

I'm not so sure about this. Don't most kickers have ups and downs throughout their careers? Especially kickers that have been around a long time. Would it surprise anyone if he goes something like 23-24 this upcoming season for another team? I know it wouldn't surprise me.

Sometimes I think a teams expectations messes with kickers heads. Miss a few and lose your job. More than any other position, a kicker needs to be confident and relaxed, and in this environment they are anything but. A lot of their job is mental.

thats not the Point why pay a Kicker 4million to miss Fgs when you can pay one 480k? we didnt cut baily because he was making too much money , he simply started to become less of himself and came back to being an average kicker making 4mil a year.. so the new guy misses a few Fgs not unlike all those FGs and YES wait for it a ton of Extra points..those extra points are what concerned me more then FGs as they should eb automatic and he couldn't even kick those late last year and cost us games..SO again we wont be calling for the FO head for releasing Bialy, isn't it about what have you dont for me lately? I mean that was the reason to Cut Dez right, not for the huge numbers he USED to pout up or the 75td as a record holder, we cut him because he made way to much money for the current production.. they made the decision on how Baily finished 2017 and what he has done I camp etc the fans who hang on every miss FG from here on out and start throwing up new threads on I told you so, arent living in reality..baily was making 4mil and starting to go downhill..sure he might go someplace and be a shell of his former self, might even beat us on a late FG but still they did this on money vs production vs age etc ..sucks to see another Vaunted beloved Cowboy go like Ware, Romo, Dez, Witten and now baily all in short time but its inevitable..

sorry bro you are trying to tell me you saw every practice at TC etc the team knows less then you? he was still struggling bit in TC etc..again 4mil way too much for kicker who is no longer clutch now stop arguing over the phacking kickers release..yes it was shocking but he was the KICKER!!! that missed a ton of extra points and FGs in these games that cut us out of the playoffs last year..if we blame dez and dak etc then Baily sucked as well and if he was hurt why did he not say im not ready to come back? Nugent was decent enough that we could have kept him the rest of the season..doctors , Baily himself and trainers must have cleared him..letting Dez go and witten retiring was much more to get over..we let a potential HOF player a franchise face in Ware go and this seems to eb more shocking then that? why did we let Ware go? he was overpaid, getting hurt a lot and up in age, see the common theme here , why is Dan afforded more slack? now say what you want this is my last response to any DanB threads until after the season starts and whiners start to say I told you so after every miss by Maher..its coming and it will e stupid but oh its coming..

Well I never wanted Ware to leave . Glad he won a SB elsewhere. And no player is going to tell the coaches he can't play. They'll play hurt if they have to. Have no idea what Bailey was doing in training camp. Just know that Garrett relies on FG's more than he should and we need a good kicker on this team. As I said if this new guy ends up automatic like Bailey was then I'll eat my words. Just have to agree to disagree until at least we see what happens during the season.

They weren’t sure Bailey could do that anymore after the last 2 years. So would you rather cross your fingers and pay a guy 3+ mil or cross your fingers and pay a guy 400K?

We've been dreaming about our FO letting go of players before they decline and now we're finally doing it and we're complaining still. Lol
