Do it. Our offense isn't going to be as good as it has been past few years. At least not until WR/TE get settled in with Dak and Fredbeard is back 100%. Our defense has to be much better than it has been and carry the team the first half of the season or longer.

I don't know anymore. We are a few days away from the season. At this point a third is appropriate. We havent practiced with him the secondary couldn't learn from him or anything. We haven't gained anything . All we will receive is his play and leadership on the fly without a trading camp with the players he would be playing with if he came here. Id give a third.foe him now. If I gave a second it would be without ANYTHING extra and it would be conditional. Like he'd have to play in 14 of the games or something like that or make the pro bowl or BV it can't be a pick higher than 16 or something like that. I would have to be mostly my terms because we are going to be good without him. He would help obviously but at this point I could wait till next year and get him for free and keep my pick. We got Lee, Smith, Lawrence and Gregory all in the second round so that is a huge cost. For a guy who is about to be 30 AND wants a huge contract. He is an all pro but our team is loaded we really don't NEED him but he would take us up a notch. Like I said we could wait till next season and get him for free. So its up to the Seahawks. Either you can come off that high price or we can wait until next year. No one is going to give you that especially after Khalil Mack just got traded for a first and like a second and he is young and an all pro. He's like 24 Thomas is 30 and you want a second and some change . What is change? Like a low pick or a player or money? I'd only give a conditional second and the terms have to favor the cowboys . Maybe a second that changes to a third under certain conditions

According to NFL’s Ian Rappaport, the Seahawks are seeking a 2nd rounder “and change” (whatever that means) for Earl Thomas and the Cowboys are offering a 3rd rounder.

The good news is that this means that conversations are still happening. This isn’t that far apart. You have to think that this deal is going to get done.

Easy deal 3rd round pick that turns into a 2nd rounder if the Cowboys make the playoffs. 3rd round pick/conditional 2nd

he already knows the system. PLUG AND PLAY. It would take 1 week for the chemistry with the young dudes. No big deal.

Given our 2nd round track record over the last 10 years, I am giving that gladly...lol

DLaw, Gregory, Jaylon Smith, Awuzie, and Connor Williams, those are our last 5 2nd round picks. You could make the argument that they’re all cornerstones for the future of our team.

What track record are you talking about?

Just get it done. Meet in the middle. Their choice - a 3rd and change or a straight up 2nd. This is too close not to get a deal done.
A third and some change sounds right. You ain't getting a second AND some change. Im an early thomas fan . I hope the deal gets done but not if they are going to rob us. We can get him for free next year.

Just sign him in the offseason. Losing a 2nd rounder isn’t worth it and the Hags will not budge. You don’t see anyone else jumping at them with a 2nd, do you?

Why would the Hags take a 3rd when they have a 3rd in 2020 effectively locked up if he leaves as a FA? They are going to have him for at least 10 games this season or he doesn’t become a FA.

My fear is that the Hags trade him elsewhere out of spite, but even then he’d have to agree to an extension with that team. And if he really wants to come here, he won’t sign elsewhere. Especially if a little birdie told him we are highly interested, be it this or next season.

I wonder if the problem is the fat extension Jerry would have to pay ET. Blame the Seahawks for the stalemate and save cash.

Here's a reality check for you fantasy world folks. The Cowboys ain't winning the SB this year with or without Earl. Save your draft picks to help continue to build this roster and sign Earl in the offseason if you really want him....

Maybe maybe not. But it sure would help in building a defense. And once we have all the pieces for our defense shored up we can focus on other areas such as TE and wide receiver.

Trades like these is what brings us closer to the the Superbowl. Doesn't mean it will get us there.

Cowboys should offer a conditional 3rd which if Thomas becomes a probowler it becomes a 2nd.

Hags won’t agree to that. Teams generally don’t want their compensation to be determined by players no longer on their roster. Nice idea but will never happen.
