Good afternoon everyone. Sitting in the Bali, Indonesia airport awaiting my flight to Alami Alor for a week of scuba diving. Tick another destination off the bucket list.
Will miss the first game, but am depending on the collective observations and wisdom of the CZ to keep me informed.
@Trouty, got my camera and, hopefully, will get some good videos of sharks![]()

Alami Alor? In Bali!!?? You have all sorts of sea life action, my friend! Man! I'm jelly(fish)!Good afternoon everyone. Sitting in the Bali, Indonesia airport awaiting my flight to Alami Alor for a week of scuba diving. Tick another destination off the bucket list.

Will do, Trouty! There is an outside chance I may catch a hammerhead shark as well.. I am excited!
Oceanic White Tips!!!!!!!!!!! You're gonna get a bunch of Black Tips (as I'm sure you're aware), but how sweet for some White Tips, and maybe some Tigers (w/o knowing the cycle/migration of Tigers and if it lines up with your AO)
Did you see the video of the SCUBA diver taking a selfie, and a Great White coming up right behind him in very murky (think Malibu clarity) water? So fricken crazy. 12 footer opens up full jaw and streams right beside him. If you haven't seen it, I need to post it for you. It's amazing.
Man, Colo, I will live vicariously through you. @Silver Surfer posts pics he's made. Beautiful pics. If you could do the same, even if you're diving with Clown Fish and Garibaldi and Nurse Sharks, I would adore it. We all would![]()
Alami Alor is about 2 hours airflight ENE of Bali... Literally, in the middle of no where. Famous for reef diving, but it takes 2+ days to get there from the states.Alami Alor? In Bali!!?? You have all sorts of sea life action, my friend! Man! I'm jelly(fish)!![]()
Just. Wow. Have an amazing adventure, Colo.Alami Alor is about 2 hours airflight ENE of Bali... Literally, in the middle of no where. Famous for reef diving, but it takes 2+ days to get there from the states.
Your gorgeous "bird" pics are what I'm referring to, Silver. I will never forget that day in 2017 offseason when you shared some of your portfolio for all of us.Thanks bud. I've been stuck in the SE for a while, so I'm shooting birds these days. They're amazing little creatures when you look at the the intricacy, color and patterns of their feathers.... but man, do I miss getting out "in it" to photograph the wild places. , I hope my ability to travel may be changing soon.
@ColoCowboy
So this is a truncated version of the vid I'm referring to. You may have seen it. It's been around for about 5 or so months in diver/shark forums, but I don't have time to delve into r/Sharks to find the whole vid.
This is a straight up haunting vid, in whole. But here you get the "kill shot." The original vid is so gnarly. Dude just diving, for about 2 mins, and then all of a sudden this behemoth in Perth. The original vid is, again, over 2 mins. And it is glorious. The diver was upset with r/Sharks for posting the whole thing (have no clue how it got into the hands of redditors) -- he was saying it was part of a documentary blah blah blah.
This vid does no justice to the original experience, but it's all I can find, w/o gnarly ads, 3rd party hosts, and whatnot etc etc
Pretty amazing.. And, frightening! Not sure what I would have done in that situation. Although, my wetsuit would have needed a thorough sterilization afterwords. Ha!

Pretty cool stuff!!!I love snakes and sharks! I love nature. I am so happy some of you get to experience it in your retirement. If I make it, I will be following your footsteps, Colo, Silver.
HammerheadsWill do, Trouty! There is an outside chance I may catch a hammerhead shark as well.. I am excited!

You have Bull Sharks in SPI. There was a death there a couple, or less, decades agoPretty cool stuff!!!
