According to NFL’s Ian Rappaport, the Seahawks are seeking a 2nd rounder “and change” (whatever that means) for Earl Thomas and the Cowboys are offering a 3rd rounder.

The good news is that this means that conversations are still happening. This isn’t that far apart. You have to think that this deal is going to get done.

Give the freaking second, how many second rounders don't pan out.

Cowboys should offer a conditional 3rd which if Thomas becomes a probowler it becomes a 2nd.

Nah he's too popular and good,,,will probably make the pro bowl.

If they make the NFC Championship then a 2nd, Superbowl throw in a 4th.

They’ll receive a third compensatory pick if he leaves through free agency. So if they don’t trade him he’s gone and get a third. So if we want him a second is what will have to be given. I think we give in finally.

No way would I deal a 2nd. A 3rd and a player, YES. I think something will happen still. If NFL network is reporting this THAT means talks are getting serious between all parties involved. Wouldn't doubt if something gets done by end of the day Weds.

What the heck are we getting with a late second that's better?

I’m actually amazed how many fans would give up a 2nd rounder for one extra year of ET on the roster. You realize there is a 99% chance we sign him next offseason, right?

This could be the very year where we are in the playoffs facing Rodgers again and Green Bay is one score behind, 1 minute on the clock and Aaron Rodgers slinging the wall. I'd feel much more comfortable with Earl back there than any other safety on our team.

Why wait for him to be a year older and there will be competition to get him and the price gets ridiculous

Keep dreaming man...you are not playing the percentages (as BP would say). You don’t throw away high draft picks or you end up with the 2002 Cowboys.

How would it affect his price? He’d ask for the same thing this season. It’s pretty clear he wants to come here and a few extra million guaranteed won’t change his mind.

Seattle wants rid of him..they don't want or need him as any further distraction. No other team is gonna want to trade for him, he's made it clear where he wants to go.

It’s not something you want to continuously do but this is a unique situation. One of the best players in the NFL at a position of our biggest need is holding out so he can finish his career with his favorite team. Obliging him is a no brainer.

So you give up the 2nd round pick and then what? Profit? We win something this year?

Or do we enter the offseason realizing this team has many more issues than safety and now we have only 1 pick in the top 64 to address it.

Pass.

A team that doesnt draft well and has excess draft capital(Browns) should be all over this.

I'm hesitant because we draft so damn well, so our top picks usually net solid players.

Oblige him next season. Why are you acting like this team is a player away from the Super Bowl? That analysis is so flawed.

This team is going to need 2 receivers and possibly a new QB and C next offseason. Doing that minus our 2nd rounder is disastrous.

The Cowboys' 3rd round pick next year very likely will be near a full round higher and a year earlier than the comp pick Seattle would receive.

Can we do this for Von Miller too...he's also a Cowboys nut.

Yep. I can't even stand how well we draft. It was all I was thinking about watching our depth get curb stomped in the preseason.

Look at the Cowboys last 15 second round draft picks. How many would you not trade for Earl Freeking Thomas?
