The situation with ET does not help his value. They need to move on and so far no one has offered more than the Cowboys.

Every team in the league would give more than we've offered assuming they had assurances he'd resign with them.

Here's a reality check for you fantasy world folks. The Cowboys ain't winning the SB this year with or without Earl. Save your draft picks to help continue to build this roster and sign Earl in the offseason if you really want him....

Wow you must be fun at parties.

According to NFL’s Ian Rappaport, the Seahawks are seeking a 2nd rounder “and change” (whatever that means) for Earl Thomas and the Cowboys are offering a 3rd rounder.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...s-not-expected-to-play-for-seahawks-in-week-1

The good news is that this means that conversations are still happening. This isn’t that far apart. You have to think that this deal is going to get done.
Folly!
Adding a disgruntled player, giving him the moon and for what? A bump n coverage?
Folly, a 3rd!!! Don't mortgage our future!
Men, a 4th is the only offer!!!

How would that be good for us? We need ET like cornflakes need milk. We got no milk!
Amen

We would have to spend a 1st next year to get a FS as good as EThomas and we would not have his services this season...... draft picks are scratch offs....... ET is a sure thing

DLaw, Gregory, Jaylon Smith, Awuzie, and Connor Williams, those are our last 5 2nd round picks. You could make the argument that they’re all cornerstones for the future of our team.

What track record are you talking about?
Lmao. Ok bro.

I think it comes down to whether Jerry and Stephen really believe this team has a shot. If so, you send the pick and upgrade your defense. But i'm not sure that is the case. Maybe their thinking its better to keep the picks and sign Earl in the off season for just a contract. The last time Jerry got greedy and overpaid for a guy who was going to be a free agent anyway was the Roy Williams debacle.

Unfortunately they wont get him for "an honest offer" if he hits the open market.

SInce year 2000 (the misses):

- Dwayne Goodrich
- Quincy Carter
- Tony Dixon
- Al Johnson
- Jacob Rogers
- Kevin Burnett
- Anthony Fasano
- Martelius Bennett
- Bruce Carter
- Gavin Escobar
- Randy Gregory (still TBD)

That’s 10 (possibly 11) picks that amounted ultimately to zilch with the franchise in the past 19 drafts. That’s a nearly 60% miss rate with the jury still out on several of the dudes u mention. So yeah...I’d say we suck with respect to hitting consistently on 2nd rd picks, the recent string (jury’s still out) notwithstanding.

To answer your question...

So you give up the 2nd round pick and then what? Profit? We win something this year?

Or do we enter the offseason realizing this team has many more issues than safety and now we have only 1 pick in the top 64 to address it.

Pass.

Acting like you know what the Cowboys are gonna do this year. I'm guessing you had them at 2-14 going into 2016 with no Romo.

I'm going to bed now.

When I wake up, I expect to see the red breaking news on top of nfl.com reporting the trade between Seattle and Dallas tomorrow morning.

A 3rd rounder and Rod Smith? Seattle could use a RB...
I wouldn't give Rod Smith. We've got Scarbrough on the PS don't we? Give 'em Scarbrough.
Rod Smith is a little too much "change".

Exactly. Watch out for the you're not a real fan crowd because you have realistic expectations. As if we dont we dont enjoy the wins just as much as "the better fans" do.

If the Cowboys are about winning this season they should pull the Trigger. Its not that we have a great track record with 2nd Round Pick anyway.

There will be no Player in the 2nd Round of the Draft next year that is better or on par with ET for the next 3 years.

Five years ago jerry would have done this deal in a heartbeat. Current situation with stephen, can't see Dallas offering any more than a third. They are wedded to the draft 'process' and not expensive free agency trades.
ET is not expected to play this week, will he be playing week 3 against us?
Interesting situation and will really test the new regimes philosophy.
