How Big is Cowboys game tonight?

It's big for quite a few reasons.

We decided to try a different scheme offensively, so they need to figure out how to make it work. It took a lot of games to get the new D functioning last season, but they got thru it. Now it's on the offensive brain trust to do the same.

I don't have any choice but to be a Cowboys fan. I respect good teams & like to see them play, but I'm not a fan of those other teams.

lose and do it big, that way we can finally clean house. Get a new HC, OC, DC and a real QB.

Starting this stuff in week two, eh? Pretty sure people kept telling themselves the same thing the second half of last season.

I'm impressed that anyone still thinks Jerry & Stephen are up to the task of improving all of those things. Sadly, we won't get a "new" anything in their roles.

Yeah. Of course most of the 0 and 2 teams are bad. But not all 0 and 2 teams are equal.

We really need this win though. So do the Giants. This should be a real fist fight tonight.

I'm expecting more focus from the Cowboys and better game overall by the Cowboys.

We'll surely be under pressure to overcome our doldrums of last week. Hopefully, the interior OL will improve their performance, especially with respect to their pass protection. If they can do that, Dak might have a good shot at making a better showing through the air. Williams should be able to improve with each week of practice and the games. He's really getting his baptism early-on this year. Perhaps he'll begin to click tonight. Let's hope so.

I say it all comes down to a 57 yard field goal... Ma Har kicks... it hit's the cross bar and... (insert ending of choice here) ;). It's all on Ma Har

This is a must win game for both teams. It is unlikely either can overcome a 0-2 hole in what looks like a very competitive NFC and I believe each team's only chance of making the playoffs is as the division champ. Starting that 0-1 isn't the path.

The questions still remain. What is this team? Is it a run first team? Is this OL even close to what it was in 2016? Is it even top 10? What tier does this QB fall in? 1, 2 or who cares? What kind of receiving corps is this? What was wrong with Sean Lee in CAR? Was that just rust becaue I;ve seen him return for an injury better than that. Is all of this hype about Jaylon just that? He did not look any better than last season in CAR. And the most important question of all, how will the health of this team hold up because it is critically thin in many spots.

We get one question answered tonight, the resilience after a loss and is this defense really as good as we've been selling ourselves on? Because it didn't look like it against a mid level offense.

I read the definitive stat on Dak this morning. When he averages over 7 yards per scamper we win. When he averages under 7 yards per scamper we lose. Just run the dang ball for more than 7 yards per scamper Dak. Stop sliding after five. Sheesh
I think he is operating under orders and the last thing he wants is to lose playing time in a very critical season for him. One play isn't worth it to him or the team.

He is as big as a running back. I'm not sure why teams are reluctant to let their QB run the ball. They let them get hammed throwing the ball. What's the difference?

So Dak is under orders "not to throw deep". "not to run". " go through the route tree and take his time", "avoid interceptions at all costs". Sounds like analysis paralysis and meanwhile the heavy horses are closing in. Yikes! Which orders coach? Don't forget to wear his helmet lol

Our offensive coaches are pretty careful about keeping Dak upright. I'm betting they've cautioned him not to get too carried away with his runs. I don't really blame them for that, in view of what we have as our backup QBs. The OL really needs to improve the pass protection if they're intent upon helping our chances of winning. I'll bet the Giants will do their best to pressure Dak after seeing the film of Carolina's success doing so last week.

That’s correct. 12%. Here’s a link.

Good news is better teams can rebound like the 1993 defending SB champs. But lesser teams usually don’t.

https://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-playoff-odds-after-0-2-start-2013-9

Looking ahead. Only 3 teams in NFL history have made the playoffs after starting 0-3.

6 teams will be 0-2 after this weekend. Several teams will be 1-1. Question? Are the 1-1 teams 50% better or do they suck 50% less. Think about that. Well, don't think too much lol

This is what I want to know. If 0-2 teams have 12% chance of making the playoffs, what do 1-1 teams have? 18%, a 50% better chance? Or 24%? I need to know before tonights game. It will determine the fate of my fingernails lol

Passing is an inherent duty and more of them do get injured in the pocket but at least the refs are there to protect them. Once they tuck the ball, they're fair game for every headhunter.

I agree, he's built like a RB and his running is what got him on the Heisman list. And I do think he should take off more to shake the front 7/8 up but if we lose him, we have 0 chance. I don't think our chances are great with him but without him, it's draft talk time.

The concerning thing to me about Dak at this point, and this is in addition to the OC, QB coaching, and OL issues he is clearly handicapped by, is that Dak knows what the defense is gonna do (thank you Landon Collins) before he steps out on the field, and yet his pre/post/snap reads are still crap, his decision-making is crap, he doesn't audible much, if at all, and his mechanics have gone to crap.

Dak should have worked on all these issues during the entire pre-season of games (thank you Jason Garrett) and not just in practices. So believe you me, I was alarmed when I read that Dak was having more bad practices than good.

Now the Cowboys are 0-5 going back to preseason, and I'm totally not surprised that Dak is playing like he practiced. It's probably too late to coach him up at this point. But getting rid of SL and Moore will help. Otherwise, Dak is just going to have to figure it out himself. If he doesn't, the Cowboys aren't going to score much on offense this year.

I meant on the slide, I think they've had many discussions about how to protect himself and keep his job. There might be many jobs riding on his health.

One interesting note. We all know Jason Garrett coached the scramble out of Tony Romo. The times he was injured were not during scrambles but by remaining back and holding the ball instead of taking off. JG is doing the same thing to Dak. This is all on Garrett. I am sick of this dude. He's overstayed his welcome by 6 years.

As for the game, I think it's a must-win or season over.

That's incorrect, I assume you're referring to the BtB article. They wrote yards per carry once, but they meant yards per completion. His yards per carry don't correlate. He ran for 8 yards per carry vs the Broncos last season, I don't think anyone wants to see that again.
