Dak wasn't that good last night **merged**

In retrospect, Ben Roesthlisberger threw for a million yards yesterday compared to Dak.

But which QB feels better today? The main stat is the W.
Let’s see..... dak faces what could be the worst team in the nfl....Ben faced what could be the best team in the nfl.yeah, the win and the loss are comparable.

He relied on what got him on the Heisman list after his junior season, his legs. However, that will not work every week and they will not play a team as bad as the Giants every week. The Giants might be lining up for a housecleaning at the end of the season and drafting a QB with that top 5 pick.

Dak was more accurate than in his 1st game so that was good to see.

It was good to see him use his legs

Prescott needs to be better than he was last night and I doubt he would disagree. We need 2016 Prescott or better if we want to do anything better than .500.
looking back at 2016, we were all excited about 13-0 and impressive winning streak, but even then he had throwing problems and it was well documented. he had trouble setting his feet and throwing and liked to throw on the run and was good at it....that year's offense had a great great OL, and zeke was the key and Dak rode the wave....

Drew Brees, who will be the all time passing yard leader soon, with Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn and Alvin Kamara was never in full control of their game yesterday and if the Browns had even an average kicker they would have beat the Saints and their "high-powered" offense. The Browns are a team that can measure than last win in years, not weeks. It's not always easy to win in the NFL and it's not always pretty.

How is it not good if we won the game? He did a great job at extending plays with his legs, which is one of his skill sets we need to use. His statistics mean nothing. What good are flashy numbers if we're not winning?
its good that we won the game.... but he wasn't impressive at all, against a lesser opponent.... he managed the game...that's about it...we can't win many games with this offense like this past wo games...hope it changes...

and btw, its not about flashy plays, its about making plays that are available to make....not pulling down and running and not making poor inaccurate throws.... this game was better than last, but far from being anywhere an NFL QB needs to be and for the team to be competitive

I saw at least 4 other shots downfield im not sure what game you were watching

On at least 1, maybe 2 of those deep balls, he had someone wide open on a medium route. Definitely would have had first downs.

Last week a post asked if you were the OC what would you do?

My post was:
1. Roll Dak out.
2. Screens
3. Designed runs for Dak when Zeke is in the backfield.
4. Flea flicker
5. Quick slants.

Didn't get but two of those wishes, but the ones they did, worked!

Maybe get some more this week?

Let's see, Dak faced what could be a good D, and Bigben faced what looks like a terrible D. Yeah.

At this point, I agree, though just think - the defense was missing Woods, Gregory and Irving and still had 6 sacks, the oh-so-fantastic ODB had only 4 catches for 51 yards and NO touchdowns. With Irving and the others back, who's to say the Cowboys can't consistently hold teams under 20 pts? There were 9 teams last year that held teams to 20 pts or less for the season, it's not like it's near impossible to do.

I have hopes that Williams and Looney can learn each others' tendencies and play better, Zeke's still averaging 4.6 yards a carry, despite having few holes to run through. Penalties can be cleaned up, too, if they work at it.

Would be better to increase the scoring, but at least there's reason to believe it can happen.
so we are hoping for a ravensque type performance, ala 2000...and when was the last time that happened? oh yeah, 2000....I don't think this defense is there. they are good, but not dominant like that defense

Dak wasn’t that good last night. He was decent. I would say a B.

That being said, can we please stop with the “if you take away the longest throw”. Blah blah blah.

I can’t stand that.

Dak has been getting ripped for not throwing deep enough, rightfully so, but now when he does throw deep, all of a sudden everybody wants to remove his credit for doing so?

On the play to Austin. Dak read the defense properly, looked off the safety, and then threw a beautiful pass that hit Austin in stride WHILE getting hit immediately after throwing. So Dak does all that, and we want to remove the play to evaluate his game?

Asinine.

You should take away that throw because it started on the scripted part of a game. This is why "opening drives" are usually not what results in a W.

Might be.

Here's the deal. Dak needs to throw more of those shots. During games. That's the only way he's going to become better at them. And he would be better already if we'd played him some in preseason.

Secondly. Watch more football. Those shots downfield are low percentage shots. All QB's miss most of them. If you're just a highlight watcher, you may not understand that.

Using Thompson a lot also. That bomb to Austin was just what they needed. More deep shots during these games will back them defenses out of the box.

The whole team looked more in sync last night.

Defense has to work on tackling. They let barkley get way to much. Our first defender has to get him down. He should have been tackled for a loss at least 5 times.
I don't disagree, good QBs use all 9 quadrants of the field to attack the defense. deep balls are good, but intermediate shots are bread and butter. deep shots have lower probability of success.

It's still early in the season and they've faced two good defenses so I'm not ready to throw in the towel on Dak yet. He took care of the ball and didn't put the team in a bad spot. Hopefully his pre and post snap reads will improve as the season goes along, that and better protection will help his accuracy issues IMO.
