2nd & Goal from 9 vs 1st & G from the 13

What's the consensus here on what happened in the game? 1st and goal at the 3, we tackle Barkley for a 6 yard loss, but there is a holding call.

In my mind I immediately thought "decline". To me 4 yards was not worth an extra down when you're that close to the goal. I was not the least bit shocked the Garrett accepted it, because well its Garrett..but maybe I'm wrong.

What's the consensus here?

It was obvious, even Al Michaels said we should decline. Just another Garrettism..

I think we probably beat the odds there but it did work out. I think the odds would favor 2nd and goal from the 9 but it does depend on your D.

Its a close call, but I think in that field position an extra down was worth more to the Giants than the 4 yards. Good for us they didn't cash in.

It should have been any easy decision for Garrett. Take the down away every time. Downs are precious. Garrett doesn’t understand this. Vs Green Bay in the playoffs a couple years ago we had just gotten a 1st down with almost 2 minutes to play. Plenty of time. No way in the world you spike the ball here and waste a precious down. Garrett spikes the ball and GB’s tired defense is able to stop us on 3rd down, which should have been 2nd, on a lucky tipped pass. The whole stupid comeback by Rogers was totally started with Garrett’s ridiculously stupid spike call. We had a really good chance of scoring a TD on that drive, or at least taking longer to kick the FG,so GB would not have so much time to come back on us.

JG might take the penalty if it was 3rd and goal LOL.
It was the wrong choice, but hey he is still learning.

If the giants had scored on 3rd down , their 4th try, that could have changed the game.
luckily they didnt.
This is another example of him making in game mistakes.

Yet, Jason Garrett blew it. Luckily the Giants offense is so inept they couldn't take advantage.

That Garrett decision is just as dumb as his bad habit of accepting the opening kickoff when he has a chance to defer and get the ball first in the 2nd half after making adjustments. I know I know.....you guys are saying "what adjustments"....lol

It’s football 101. You decline the penalty and go to 2nd and goal from the 9. By making it 2nd down, you reduce their shots to score. It’s a no brainer.
