Romo made the announcement to the media that this was Dak's Team, supposedly surprising Garrett and everyone else. At least that was the speculative narative locally on radio, and the evidence to that was that Romo and Garrett who were close had a falling out.

Romo was not granted the opportunity to compete for his job back and that is why the falling out. He made the public statement so that it wasn’t a distraction like a true leader would. Romo was run outta town and never given the opportunity to compete the following offseason.

And the mistake a lot of people make, is thinking that you just draft one in the first round after a really bad season. It's a lottery Ticket unfortunately.
5 rookie QBs played yesterday that were drafted in rd 1 from last draft, just saying

Romo and Garrett did have a falling out, but do you really think that Romo would have given up on the starting job if he had a chance of getting it back from a clearly inferior player? It makes much more sense that Garrett decided to stick with Dak due to Romo getting more of the praise when the Cowboys won than Garrett did which led to Romo feeling betrayed.

Well I was asked to prove what I said was true, you have any proof that it wasn't romo's decision?

Anyway, hard to find the old stories from 2016, but I managed to find this ESPN one that said nobody knew Romo was going to make that announcement

http://www.espn.com/blog/dallas-cowboys/post/_/id/4763934/a-year-later-tony-romos-speech-remembered

I haven't seen stories that contradict that romo decided on his own to hand the keys to Dak.

well guess the story did say he had been informed the team would be sticking with Dak, so guess I should read the actual article next time, but dunno if it was for good or for now. But local sports talk here in dallas it was talked about that garret might of not been ready to hand the reigns fully to Dak.

Not going to go back and pick out stories. But the only evidence I can really point to was all the hot hand talk and the lack of open support for Romo while the streak was going on. I would find it hard to believe that JG was mad at Romo for doing what he did. It would make more sense if it was Romo (who doesn’t even acknowledge JG) that had issue with not allowing him to compete for his job back.

We are better on defense despite putting little resources into it.

We are worst of offense. We have put a lot of money into the oline. Why does it suck so bad? Its overrated.

Dak has regressed. No one can deny that Dak was hitting most of his target in his rookie season and in stride? Why has that all of a sudden changed?

Garrett has made us worst because he hasn't changed anything with our offense. He can't make modifications to the offense to suite the skillset of a player.

Thats why he needs to go.

Well it could have been that the cowboys were planning to let Dak continue as long as he was on his hot streak, or that is Jerry not garrett, but Romo handing the keys to Dak, by saying that this was Dak's team, takes away the possibility of handing back the reigns to Romo if Dak starts to struggle. But either way, I don't think Garrett is to blame for Dak replacing Romo. That was an act of god. that spawned those events and Ultimately, Garrett has Zero say on who the quarterback of the Cowboys is. So it was either Jerry or Romo or a combination of the both that completed the transition of QB here. I feel like you can blame Garrett for many things, just not Romo.

In 2014 we had a team that could have made a run at a championship for a few years.

The runner up for MVP never played another season , we let the leagues leading RB walk and our All Pro WR never had an elite QB again.

We’ve rebuilt another pretty good team in 3 years less a great QB.
Lol we're not pretty good now.

100 percent correct.
And he wanted to compete the next preseason and would have destroyed Dak.

Wait until he posts a, "Dave, the Poodle, Campo" 5-11 this year and Jerry retains him because, "We're training Jason to be a head coach."

Not a big enough improvement to call it better.

We should have never moved on from Wade. He had a brutal stretch at the end, but we should have seen him through. He did good for us in the years prior.

I've always had a suspicion that JG dialed down the play calling a tad to help accelerate his departure.

Well things with the Offensive Line can change fast. Those of us who remember at least from 2007 on, would remember that Romo started off with a pretty nice Offensive Line and then there was one game where the announcer summed it up saying that the offfensive line got old over night :) so to speak. So if this Offensive Line goes from Best to Bad its just history repeating itself. The lines don't always last that long like the Great Wall of Dallas in the 90's did.

I can't respect a coach who belittled the importance of practice on TV. That sorta gave me vibes of the Barry Switzer era :)

Worse. This team is **** on a shingle like it was then but now the larder is empty, and Garrett has not shown he can fill it with groceries like Bill could.
