This started to naw at me watching this offense slide into the abyss.

Since Romo retired..

DAK has steadily regressed since his rookie year.

DAKOTA played so well with Romo mentoring him..

we have to consider Romo as a coach who might fix the offensive issues.

Now..

Would Tony consider leaving broadcasting to stay closer to his team?

I think yes.

Could he work with Garrett and avoid concerns with Jerrah?

I think yes.

Would Jerrah pay him double what CBS is paying him?

I think yes.

Jerrah would do anything to stop his team from more collapse.

While I'd love to have Romo as OC, I think Sanchez helped Dak more as a rookie. He was always in Dak's ear between drives and Romo even said himself that when he was injured he wasn't around in meetings etc... as much and didn't feel a part of the team. I know he was on the sidelines with a headset, but I don't think he was nearly as active during the week.

Romo would never take the gig. He's got a nice cushy job that pays millions and he has a limited work schedule.

Being an NFL coach/coordinator is a grind.

Even if you like coaching, do you still like it as much after an 80 hour week? When the other option is that cushy CBS gig I just can't imagine he'd want to be our OC.

True.

But I would never say never.

Give Tony 5 years or so to make his name in broadcasting. There is more than one road to the HoF.

He'd make an awesome OC.

They talked about this misconception the other day on squawking cowboys, it wasn't Romo at all who was mentoring Dak. It was Mark Sanchez. Somehow this revisionist history of Romo being the reason for Dak's 2016 success has become the narrative.

Wait! Would he coach dak to run the play clock all the way to zero before getting the play off?

1st step.. Ignore what garret and Linehan say.

2nd step... call a play

3rd step... look at defensive formation and hurry the hell up and change the play before we run out of time.

He’s not ready. He’s never even been a position coach yet. Being an offensive coordinator in the NFL is a very tough and complicated job. It takes some seasoning before being ready. There’s a reason players don’t retire and get appointed a HC or coordinator position. They aren’t ready.

Most respectable organizations don’t name someone an OC with one year of retirement in a TV booth and zero experience coaching.

Look, too many people think that a good football player automatically translates to a good coach. Sometimes they do. I think...emphasis think, that Tony Romo might be a good coach someday. But don’t base that on how smart he sounds in a TV booth.

Being an excellent OC takes some experience IMO, and despite Romo’s excellent football knowledge, he is a long way from being ready to be an NFL OC. Let’s see if he coach QBs or receivers first.

I think Romo teaching Dak was part of the reason why Dak has a great 2016. I think him being OC would help out the Cowboys starting QB no matter what that turns out to be.

If romo goes through the coaching ranks and shows he's got a knack for being an OC, then sure, in a few years, bring him in... but if we're going to pull him from the booth and fasttrack his coaching career like Garrett and Kellen Moore, then absolutely not.

I want a coaching staff that is held accountable, not one filled with jerry's buddies that get to stay along no matter how they perform.

It was both. Romo for what was going on on the field.

It is a misconception/myth that Sanchez was this guru in his ear. He helped him with the psychology of the position.

I respect this but with that said..........do you really think Romo would do worse than Linehan? He knows this team and their tendencies well, he would have a better chance of succeeding here than some new team.
