Would you want Romo as OC?

I'll bring him on board as HC.

Screw it, it works, great, if it doesn't, we get more headlines! Either way, uncle Jerry wins.

While I'd love to have Romo as OC, I think Sanchez helped Dak more as a rookie. He was always in Dak's ear between drives and Romo even said himself that when he was injured he wasn't around in meetings etc... as much and didn't feel a part of the team. I know he was on the sidelines with a headset, but I don't think he was nearly as active during the week.

"I mean, Tony did an amazing job of helping me out. I think that's what Tony realized is that, he couldn't necessarily control whether he was going to play or not. But what he can control is our relationship," Prescott said Wednesday on The Rich Eisen Show.

"And I think Tony did a great job, and I commend Tony and thank him so much for that -- of being another coach for me, of helping me out, of in the middle of the game, at practice, on the field [and] off the field, giving me advice. And as a guy who went through exactly what I went through -- taking over the position from an older veteran, and knowing what it's like to be the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, and just helping me out."

He mean more than anyone seems to remember, at least according to Dak.

They talked about this misconception the other day on squawking cowboys, it wasn't Romo at all who was mentoring Dak. It was Mark Sanchez. Somehow this revisionist history of Romo being the reason for Dak's 2016 success has become the narrative.

See above. Not sure who the revisionists are. According to Dak himself Romo was a coach, friend, and mentor.

That said, why would Romo give up the easy commentary job he has for a 80 hour a week coordinator job?

Defenses just adjusted by taking away Beasley and Dak hasn’t been able to adjust since. Saying Sanchez or Romo mentored Dak is really over-stated.

Linehan did a good job to bring along Dak his first year. Dallas for example ran more play action with Dak half the season, than Romo did in his last full season.

It may well have been that Tony did help him a ton. I just remember that Sanchez was ALWAYS in his ear on the sidelines and I remember when Tony said that he didn't feel as part of the team when he was rehabbing. And Tony seemed to indicate that he was somewhat withdrawn from the team at that point (and a bit depressed about being injured). Obviously I have no behind the scenes information, and I'm just basing this on what I recall thinking at the time I heard him speak.

You know these guys over-exaggerate everything in favor of Romo. Of course Romo helped a little. He didn't turn his back on Dak but it should have been common knowledge it was Sanchez being the main mentor to Dak. Yet these guys will continue to give Romo all the credit and not mention the main guy. It is mind boggling.

You could say Dak started regressing when Romo came back and was in his ear as the back up QB.

Romo has no interest in 70hr work weeks for less cash than he's making now.

I say no. The man has suffered enough under Jerry and has done his time. Let him enjoy his cush job, family and play golf. He shouldn't have to suffer dealing with Jerry or Stephen any more than he has.

I still want to hire Sanchez as the QB Coach for Dak. I think he would be a great mentor for him.

Yes, I’d take Romo as OC.

But in his current job he gets to talk about football AND he’s adored by people. Seriously, I’ve seen fans of rival teams fawning over Romo’s commentary. Why would he leave that?

They way he was calling out offenses when he began his broadcasting career, in not sure he wouldn't be a half decent defensive coordinator either.

Would Tony consider leaving broadcasting to stay closer to his team?

I think yes.

I think no.

Stepping down from the lead analyst gig would be a pay cut - he's making $1.5 million per year. The average OC salary is less than a million.

He's working part time. NFL OC's work long hours during game week, keeping them away from their families.

I get why you'd like Tony, but your reasons are just a rationalization.

Garrett got $3 million.

You could offer Romo the same - maybe throw in an extra million if he doesn't sandbag to try and get his HC fired.

This started to naw at me watching this offense slide into the abyss.

Since Romo retired..

DAK has steadily regressed since his rookie year.

DAKOTA played so well with Romo mentoring him..

we have to consider Romo as a coach who might fix the offensive issues.

Now..

Would Tony consider leaving broadcasting to stay closer to his team?

I think yes.

Could he work with Garrett and avoid concerns with Jerrah?

I think yes.

Would Jerrah pay him double what CBS is paying him?

I think yes.

Jerrah would do anything to stop his team from more collapse.

Comments?
I would love it, but not if the rest of this coaching staff remains. I also don't know why in the world he would want to coach for us, and leave the awesome job he already has?

I have zero doubt, that Romo could take of that suit and walk down to the field, put on his uniform, helmet, walk out on the field and do 300 times better than Dak ever could. No game film, nor prep, out of shape, a bit slow from sitting, etc, etc, but he'd wing it and still give us a better game anyway then Dak. And that point is not to bring Romo back, he's not coming back, the point is Dak SUCKS!!!

Hell, I'll even bet you could round up ole Brett Farve and just throw him out there and he'd give us a better chance to win.

Not just no... Hell no. What kind of gas do you think he would bring to the table? It would be this same crap Garrett has been running for the last decade.
