Connor is a loudmouth that talks way too much and deserves a beat down but...
His fighting style is far more fun to watch than the ground and pound

So the dolly through the bus window was part of the promotion?

Get outta here with that.
That was 6 months ago and had zero to do with fans or the actual event.

It was publicity that worked to make Khabib his biggest salary to date BY FAR
Khabib has never made more than 500K for a fight before.
And only once had he topped 200K.
This fight he would have made FOUR times that highest ever career amount.

This was not racial at all.

You sensitive guys must have hated Ali too?

Conor isn't that good of an MMA fighter but he is it's best promoter of fights by FAR.
EVERY SINGLE MMA fighter wants to fight him because he sells the PPV and makes money.

Anyone with a brain knows Conor is just promoting fights with his insane nonsense.
Stop being daft because you are fan boy.

Stop posting idiocy.
In the Aldo clip McGregor walks near him and Aldo is SMILING.
Blatant fight promotion.

Arguing that is like Khabib doing a flying kick into row 3 to some spare BJJ coach who he will never fight is asinine and frankly stupid.

The Bellator fight is where en entered the ring after the fight.

He's a mediocre fighter that has talked himself from basic broke dude working a warehouse job to 100M in career earnings and endorsement deals out the wazzoo.

So many wanna make it personal where it's just good business.

99% of the stuff that goes on in the UFC is promotional. You will see heated rivalries before a fight and then you see them hugging after a fight.

This specific case was not promotional no matter how many times someone keeps saying it.

You don't do the things that McGregor did with bus incident and you don't do the things that happened after this fight as promotion.

This was two times that both sides were truly upset at the other beyond any kind of promotion theatrics.

This was personal for both and BOTH got carried away.

Sad part of it is that Dana will get angry about it and rant and rave, but in the end when he calms down...or gives it time for the fans, it will just be an excuse for a rematch that will make just as much money if not more. Of course Dana is the "face" of the UFC...however he is no longer the owner of the UFC now so maybe things will change, but I doubt it.

The dolly throwing incident was BOTH promotional and personal.
What exactly was the punishment? 3 days of community service? LOL.

Again the dollars don't lie.
Khabib is a hard guy to sell a fight for. He's a Russian that is Islamic, not exactly the UFCs target crowd.
Yet he was paid 2M for this fight.
His last fight was 500K.

McGregor showed up with a gang of dudes he flew over from Ireland and no one got off the bus. His team tossed stuff at the bus and it culminated with Conor throwing a dolly at the window. But no one was ever actually hit, zero punches were thrown. It absolutely went too far and was stupid. Did he know the bus window would shatter? Who knows. But it promoted the crap outta a fight between McGregor and Khabib. Conor wasn't fighting for anything like previous UFC salaries. And this incident was the chief driving factor in this fight drawing so much interest.

It was all so conveniently filmed from multiple angles...................

Saturday night was not about any bus incident.
Conor trash talked like he does every fight. He and Mayweather said wayyyy worse to each other.
Then hugged it out and cashed insane checks.
Conor peacocks and acts like an idiot for the pay checks.
He clearly is following Ali/Mayweather and other great promoters.

Guess what boys and girls? That's the way it is going.
Even really good dudes are trash talking big time to sell fights.
See Daniel Cormier.
It is where the money is.

This is no longer the UFC you grew up on where it's about skill.
That all ended when they brought in Brock Lesner the first time.

As to Khabib for him it was clearly personal.
Conor was promoting his whiskey and made flippant comments about Islam.
Khabib is NOT a promoter. So to him it was personal and he risked his fight check to attack a peon in the crowd.

No one want sot fight Khabib, everyone wants to fight McGregor.
Because everyone wants to get paid.

Love your takes and passion...however I think in this case you are just flat out wrong and the number of words trying to convince me otherwise is a waste of phalanges movements on a keyboard.

Serious action, not just fines here, need to happen immediately over this. If not, this will eventually signal the end of this sport IMO. You can go a long way, in terms of marketing and promoting in sports but, you can't ever cross that line in terms of having people endangered in the crowds etc. This is just a terribly bad look for the whole sport IMO. It's a shame really because Kabbib turned in a masterful performance here and its' going to be overshadowed.

The "money" argument provides an explanation but not a justification. Moreover, it assumes that racism, bigotry, fanning ethnic tensions, and violence are the only ways to promote a fight and arouse public interest which is a debatable proposition at best.

The sophisticated detachment of Dana's casual dismissal of Conor's rhetoric and claim athletes need to maintain "professionalism" in the face of "trash talk" is self-serving, self-exculpatory and patent nonsense as he would be leading the shrill denunciations if it were a Muslim from Degastan insulting the Irish (or Americans) and their religion, culture, and families.

"Keep a cool head, laddies, he's just promoting a fight and making our boy filthy stinkin rich." Uh huh.

Lol, okay?

So what was Conor doing when he and his crew chased down the bus and threw a dolly in the window? You're trying to dismiss Conor's cumulative actions as "promotion," but then say "meh, that was 6 months ago."

If you don't see the self-defeating stupidity in that I can't help you.

And who even said the dolly incident was racial?

I mean seriously, you've suffered the forum with your inane takes on the NBA...please don't do the same on this one.

Hey guys, it's all part of the "promotion." In fact, Khabib should be apoarently thanking Conor.

lol, I don't think Dana gives a crap. The actual owners of the UFC might though.

I never keep up with UFC stuff but I've been pulled in after hearing about the brawl which begs the question, is this good actually for business?

That was great.

I'm sorry, I get that folks percieve this as bad for the sport in general, and I get that, but just on a visceral level I enjoyed it. Conor is a legendary crap talker. He projects himself as an unbeatable fighter that does what he wants, when he wants, to whomever he wants.

Khabib and his crew shut Conor and his crew up. It was great seeing him rocked multiple times (I didn't see that on the initial replays) and folded up against the fence.

Again, you keep asking for that smoke you can't be acting surprised when someone obliges you.

right, fight breaks out at a fight, news at 11
