Eli owns a ring. Garrett? Dude has been nothing but 'AVERAGE' throughout his entire coaching career here. You can't believe in someone who hasn't been there/done that before, IMO. So, the answer to your question is easy...
The last ring Eli won Garrett was into his 1st season as a head coach

The NFL is all about what have you done for me lately, so the question is not nearly as easy as you think

Technically, Garrett has a ring being a back-up to Troy....so, there is that.

I think he's reached the point where the louder the criticisms get, the more steadfast and stubborn he gets because he is desperate to be able to tell people how smart and forward thinking he was in the face of criticism.

It's going to cost this franchise for years to come as long as he's the main voice in the franchise (it already has cost the franchise).

I say this dead seriously............. I would not be surprised that if this team went 3-13 or 4-12, Jerry still brought Garrett back. It would seem painfully obvious that a disaster season like that would, for any sane fan, owner, GM, whatever - result in the removal of a head coach with the resume Garrett has. It's perfectly logical.

But for Jerry it's almost like a season like that is just another opportunity to tell all of us how dumb we are and how smart he is.
You know when I got over the shock of seeing this latest JJ utterance I though about it , I think you are 100% correct Jerry has to prove to everyone he is smarter than they are , he is right no matter what. Guy is so desperate for approval and recognition that he is the genius behind the DC that it has so warped his judgement he can not help himself any more. thanks , great take on this

Ole Jerrah has a 25 year window for clappy Garrett. Makes sense to keep bringing a failed coach back every year trying to prove to everyone your coach will get it right someday.

The dreaded vote of confidence is correct. What do you expect him to say? He’s putting all the chips on the table for Garrett, but he knows what he has to do at the end of the season if we’re not where we need to be. If he doesn’t pull the trigger, then they’ve lost a fan in me.
What would I expect him to say?

"Everything in the organization is being evaluated. From top to bottom. We still believe we can make the playoffs and have a successful season with these coaches and these players. But when the season is over, we will look at everything based on how we finish. This is how successful organizations operate"

Something like that.

This is a good thing. He is seeing the heat coming from the press and everywhere.
Its starting to register with him. A couple more losses and ....

ok. he operates much like al davis did. al davis definitely was a brilliant football person yet when he got so old he couldn't get past old philosophies he ran it into the ground. he finally died and his son took over. it took him seven years before he finally had a competitive team. this is what we are looking at unfortunately... go cowboys, eh.... sure...

Meh, not concerned.......yet. Jerry has always supported his staff and players publicly. It is not in his nature to spout ultimatums.

Now, if we finish below .500 looking terrible and he brings back both Dak and Garrett with the same offensive system, that will be the final test of my patience!

It should be illegal that such an idiot and his family can hold a team's fans hostage like this. As a Cowboy fan what can one do? Either walk away, or keep rooting for them in misery. Yeah you can still root for them but boycott tickets and merchandise. Unless 500,000 people do that it's not going to make a dent in his pocket book. When Jerry dies moron son takes over. When moron son dies goofball Arkansas quarterback wannabe grandson takes over. It's never going to end.
