Why Dak still sucks

This isn't the week to badger Dak.

He was pretty good, and he's going to have to run like that for that to be the case. He is obviously very effective with his feet. Had those two fumble dribbles not miraculously bounced perfectly, his day could have looked very different. And Ramsey dang near picked him off. But I saw some nice throws and at least he threw the ball downfield more, successful or not. I thought that helped his cause.

Here's the challenge. There's no doubt that Washington will bracket Beasley this week and take that away. (Not sure what Jax was thinking there.) So, Dak is going to have to get more connected with the wide receivers next week.

But make no mistake, Dak was an effective player yesterday. Now, can he string that same game together and get the ball to other guys while using his ability to run? That will determine everything going forward.

200 yards is arbitrary. He had an efficient day passing and was great on the ground. Just a strange thread to bring up the day after he plays well.

No it isn’t arbitrary especially how much it’s been in the news that everybody in Dallas knows about it and he’s set a record of futility in this department.

There was a thread yesterday that was specifically about Dak not getting 200 yards because he wasn’t trying in the second half.

Guy is holding this team back.

He was effective in the first half in large part because of how he Jaguars defense looked like they didn’t even practice, there were so many free runners all first half. He did make some nice throws. Kudos for basically an NFL backup making some throws once in awhile. If anything, like Simms said at the half, Linehan was basically one step ahead of them all game.

He was absolutely not effective in the second half, particularly when Jags settles and took away Beasley. In the third quarter, as usual, he was downright awful.

Are you not going to give him credit for 82 yards rushing? That's a massive amount of offense generated.

There were a few drops for big plays (Jarwin's comes to mind). I remember thinking at the time that the Ramsey near-pick is because we have WRs that don't battle for the ball in the air, but I'd have to see it again.

I don't think anyone is saying he's now the long term answer after a bad stretch of games going back to last season, but if you can't give him credit for THAT game yesterday, then you're simply biased.

There is nothing incoherent in this thread.

Dak homers said Dak didn’t break 200 yards passing, but he could have easily. They just didn’t try...

They had TEN passing plays for Dak in the third. That’s a high rate of passing for elite QBs, even when up that much. That is by every definition of the word trying, including Dak tossing an awful football up over twenty yards plus that was right into Ramsey’s arms. When they were 8 yard seats from the end-zone off the Heath INT they passed it to out of three times.

If anybody truly pays attention, Dak plays his absolute worst in the third quarter and the second half in general.

Technically, for this season, the 3rd quarter has been his 2nd best quarter, behind the 1st quarter. He's worse in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

In his career, the 3rd quarter has been his worst, and the 4th quarter has been his second best (although his rating in the 4th is 95.4 and his career first quarter rating is 95.3, so barely different). His best quarter career wise is the 2nd, where he has a rating of 98.4.

No doubt that it'll take more than a decent Sunday now and again to get earn the team's and our confidence in him. Jacksonville's biggest problem was that their offense was dreadful. Secondly, they were pretty arrogant the way they tried to play Dallas straight up. Beasley against Tyler Patmon all day one-on-one? Are you kidding me?

But that game was about protecting the ball and not making big mistakes. Jax had the huge 12-man penalty (basically a turnover) and two turnovers, which iced it. Dak lucked out on the two fumbles.

He's got to get the ball to the wideouts, but I LOVED the early throw to Gallup. That was very Romo-Dez looking. And the other throw to Gallup in the end zone was nice, too. That was hopeful. He missed Austin on the deep ball, but I loved seeing him let that go.

All in all, they can win with that Dak. But teams aren't going to be so arrogant going forward no defense. Let's see what he does the next three games.

I love the guy. I just need to see a lot more to love the quarterback.

He’s been really awful in the third from last season. This year it’s just been bad all across the board, so I wouldn’t doubt your statement, but the suckage has been so bad it’s probably only slightly.

Last year in the first 5 games, the Dallas offense went scoreless FOUR out of FIVE times.

Then came the stretch where they ran Zeke close to thirty times a game, his suspension cane into effect and then Atlanta.

Against them, he again went scoreless in the third. Against the Eagles next, scoreless in the third. Against the Chargers, scoreless in the third. Even against the Commanders in disaster, scoreless in the third. The woeful Giants next, scoreless in the third. The last game of the season, against the third stringers in Philly, scoreless in the third. The Raiders game and Seahawks game though they scored, totally ineffective.

So last year, Dallas was scoreless in the third ten of their sixteen games.

Again, Jaguars who never played him before figured out his tendencies, adjusted at half-time and **** him down basically.

I've been a part of this forum for around 15 years. I've seen Romo love post, Dez love post, Dak love post, Dak hate post, Dez hate post, Romo hate post. Even seen "hidden agenda" post where it's worded as nothing to do with all the above but they know someone will comment to turn it into one of the above post. With all that said, this might take the cake as the dumbest post I've seen. 40-7 and you still start a Dak sucks post? Some might say at least your consistent, I see it as just plain dumb. Lol

Take away Beasley and produce.

Do that and people will get off Dak's back.

The pass game & bad coaching will be the teams downfall. We all know it.

I just hope that it's not good enough to keep the coach & QB around another year.

I like Dak the person. He's awesome. He just doesn't cut it as a QB..

I was very happy to see him use his legs more though. That could change things if he did that.

In the third quarter ALONE, Dak THREW it nine times and the tenth was when he broke pocket after spinning into the DT to the right, but escaped for that gain. Dak homers, as justification for the fact he couldn’t break 200 yards passing, are pinning this like the Cowboys just decided to stop passed. Dak tried PASSING around 70% of the time in third quarter and his most successful play was when he broke pocket on a three man rush, almost spinning himself into a sack.

He made one awful throw that should on the almost INT by Ramsey and the other, series when Heath put them at the Jaguars 8, he threw it twice and cane away with a field goal. The problem with the Ramsey throw was that it was right after Kaguars matched up the field and scored a TD, meaning it could have easily shifted the momentum and put it at 24-14 if they had any competent offense. The next field goal was the off worst throw in NFL history by Bortles to Heath.

Then came the fumble by the Jags and Dallas decided they had enough and ran it with Zeke pretty much every time.

The Jaguars basically adjusted after their incompetent first half and Dak was Dak. The defense also got its TOs against this garbage Jags offense that turned it over five times last week and allowed the Cowboys to pull ahead while Dak floundered passing.

The point being Dak couldn’t even break 200 yards passing when he was still TRYING.
Sounds like you are more of a hater than a fan of winning!!
Why does he need over 200 yards passing, do you even hear yourself?? We must continue to play to his strengths and the strength of our offense, he rushed for over 80 yards, that counts as much as throwing.

Be satisfied with a great Win, a good outing against the #1 Def.
Dak play is butt off, got the win so your comments are worthless at this point!

Almost as strange as the thousand threads trying to say Dak had the greatest game ever and the reason he didn’t break 200 yards passing is because they hung it up on the third, yet Dak went heavy pass and he continued his trend of major suckage in the third quarter.

Guy couldn’t even get thirty yards passing to break 200 yards when trying to throw ten passes on the third in this context, when everything went right around him.

Dak tried throwing it TEN times in the third quarter. How did they not try to get Dak 200 yards passing?

Flacco , Wilson and Rivers all had impressive wins with around 200 yrds passing . Marriota , Mayfield , Alex Smith Carr Watson Dalton Cousins and the bills QBs all had 230 yrds or under Heck Marriota had 51 Carr 106 Watson 177 Alex Smith had 156 .

That's all you got Dak didn't get 200yrds It really affected the outcome of the game LOLOL Junk Thread throw this in the trash pile .

They are a 9-7 team with this OL and defense and Dak playing his ‘best ball’ which was yesterday against an arrogant defense like you said... he’s holding the team back..

The offensive line gave Prescott all the time he wanted/needed to throw the ball. That was the main takeaway from the game - Brian Hoyer would have had a similar game with his hands. Further, they created more space for Elliott to run riot. Prescott needs to use his legs like last night - it's a gimmicky offense and it will be found out eventually but it would take the team to the play offs. He missed three TD passes in the first half alone - the one Romo highlighted when he didn't even spot Elliott for a walk in touchdown was the most worrying. The defense was seriously impressive. Like last season, it's a play off quality roster but Prescott didn't get it done last term.

Next 7 games (Titans aside which will be a blow out win) will be interesting viewing.
