The Cowboys are now owners of two recent championships-
1. Jerry’s favorite- the “Forbes Fortune 500” championship given to the most financially valuable franchise.
2 Winners now of the “What if Bowl”- a what if this happened championship.

That’s what this franchise has become.

No, that was 2009. The 2007 D was decent, but mostly effective because they had a ton of leads and played against a bunch of crappy offenses. They played 6 games against teams ranked 20th or worst in offense (Miami, Buffalo, Carolina, NYJ, Chicago, St. Louis) and another 8 against teams ranked 14-19. The Patriots (48) and Packers (27) scored a ton of points.

The 2007 defense was loaded with talent. It's surprising they weren't better.

I blame Jacques Reeves

Romo never had a Defense that was this good. He also never got to play with Zeke. Romo’s Quick release, sliding within the pocket, and Houdini escapability would make the o-line better. His accuracy would make Cooper, Beasley, and Gallup better. Too bad Dak makes receivers and the o-line worse.
Looks like you forgot one MASSIVE roadblock to your hopes and dreams.

Maybe the thread should just say "Romo was better than Dak".

And, yes, Dak appears to need greater support to be as effective as Romo. Romo obviously needed much more support to win something. Whether he actually would win if given an opportunity would be interesting to find out. We'll never know. We do know there were opportunities to keep seasons alive longer than when they ended and most of those opportunities were left on the table.
Well many great QB’s have left seasons on the table .

But correlating the teams results to the QB’s productivity and effectiveness are not always a fair equation.

Apparently some fans appear to argue Romo wasn’t a good QB because of the teams lack of post season success.

Does this mean( not suggesting you) that fans struggle measuring a QB apart from the team?

That's false. Romo had a defense that pitched back to back shut outs and almost had another shut out in the playoffs the very next week...... Which he won that game. Romo was a very good QB but anybody saying he would win a Superbowl with this team is only fooling themselves. Romo failed in the playoffs much more than he did in the regular season.
This is just another thinly veiled “Dak sucks” thread. We haven’t met today’s quota!

That doesn't count because apparently nobody believes the defense would have made a stop or we would win the next year.

His poor game in 2007 doesn't count either because Crayton also made an error and he gets all the blame.

Him being a turnover machine in the season ending losses to Eagle and Vikings in 2008 and 2009 don't count because we got blown out.

Week 17 losses in 2011 and 2012 don't count because nobody believes we could have won the SB anyway with the defense.

Nope, Romo only had a chance in 2016-2018 and Garrett ruined his guaranteed SB wins.
The funny thing is Seattle went on to beat Chicago by only 3 points.
Realistically, there's no reason Dallas couldn't have don the same.
Then, they went on and gave NO are royal *** whooping.

Then they went to the Super Bowl.

I don't think anyone doesn't acknowledge Romo was a good QB. The arguments surrounding Romo aren't the same type of arguments that occurred when Romo was actually playing. I used to defend Romo but I defended him against claims that he sucked and that he couldn't win a SB.

But it's not good enough to simply believe Romo was a very good QB. Now it appears you have to believe he was an elite QB that never, ever had an opportunity to win because he never had a team capable of winning with. You have to believe Romo "carried the team" and his mistakes are excusable because he was the only reason the team had a chance to begin with. And that if only Romo had Zeke and this defense he would win. That's what most people argue against.

Totally different arguments.

This would still be the worst group of WRs Romo ever played with. At the very minimum, he always had a good WR (Terrell Owens, Miles Austin for a few years, Dez) plus a younger Witten.
He made receivers better. What did Austin ever do after he left?
Honestly, while I'm not going to get into what he would or wouldn't have been able to do with the current team, he certainly didn't need his receivers to have 3 yards of separation.

Many fans also don't realize how good Danny White was.

Double standards are the norm when it comes to discussing the QB position, specifically with Romo lovers. They even bash Aikman to prop Romo up.
THAT, is ******* hilarious. Aikman no less.

The bottomline in this argument is not the results of the team but the effectiveness of the QB’s.

We’ve gone from an effective and productive offense which carried a bottom tier defense most years to a defense trying to carry an inept bottom tier offense.

And apparently we have fans that appear to be ok with the QB who has taken our offense down with it?

Why? Because they like him? Or because they want him to have more success than Romo? They think we can’t do better? His Rookie season hooked them for life? I’m struggling to get it.

This doesnt need to be about Romo. He’s done. Measure Dak on his own merit.

You could say that Owens made Romo better. Same with Bryant and Witten.

If romo were our QB we would have been undefeated in every game he played. I know this because he showed me this his entire career.
