It's not the clapping, in and of itself, that is the issue. It's that it seems to be Garrett's only move as head coach on game day. He doesn't tailor his actions to specific scenarios and/or players. I was floored this year when he actually saw Garrett trying to get Randy Gregory's attention after a boneheaded penalty gave the Seahawks the necessary yardage to kick a FG right before halftime. We have become conditioned to just believe he would clap in that situation. Perhaps he is growing.

I'll have to remind you that you called him a stuffed shirt, non-pertinent to current Cowboys, and had sold out for profit. You changing your words now? Mr. Adult...as to tits, that's another topic.

If he's such a good 'ol buddy, arrange a meeting and we'll all be there!

I never said he was a stuffed shirt and I have no idea what motivates him these days, I doubt he made these comments for profit. He has his opinion and I have mine. I've seen enough of Garrett in 11 years to know I will never consider him a good NFL HC unless he does something no Cowboys coach has done since Barry Switzer.

That is an opinion and respect for the Manster. I can abide with those...I'm just a loyal fan, and don't give up the fight. Oh, I can move on as well...but not during the battle. It's to the death for this 'ol soldier, then...

Or perhaps the cameras don't always show everything that's going on.
I'm tired of Garrett too, but I prefer to degrade him for things that actually matter, instead of things that have nothing to do with anything.
That includes the silly "icing his own kicker" mantra.

But even in battle, a smart leader knows when to pull up camp and regroup or try something different. It's the foolish leader that just sits there and takes a pounding with no real results but plows forward out of stubbornness and loyalty.

In other words, until Jerry pulls the plug on Garrett you will continue to believe he's a good coach that we should all support?

Jimmy had whipping boys, and the team stayed together due to the Coordinators. If not for Norv Turner, Jimmy would never have had a productive Troy Aikman, or offensive side of the ball...and it was Jerry who brought him in as a last resort following Jimmy's failed directions for a coordinator. Jimmy had become a bit of a name tosser and gave the job originally to the Son of Miami's Head Coach, Don Shula.

Jimmy lost Wannstedt and Tony Wise after '92 championship. Also lost Norv after '93 championship.

Both times, Jimmy replaced those coaches and team still went on to win.

In fact, Troy had to play Jimmy role when Switzer replaced Jimmy so players were forced to be accountable to each other and win last ring in '94.

Jimmy, not Jerry, found both Norv then Zampese. Jimmy was the tinkerer and constantly looking for an edge in every phase of the game, on field and off, because his goal was more just winning. He absolutely hated to lose.

With Jimmy, Cowboys more than likely win 4 championships in a row, if not more. 90's Cowboys players and other NFL front offices have espoused this often enough. Cowboys were just that dominant and intimidating with Jimmy at the helm, this was a fact.

He's not making excuses for Garrett. He wants him gone too.
It's just the "clapping", "red hair", "butt slapping", etc. has no bearing whatsoever on anything, and some people bring them up as if they're part of his faults. It honestly does lessen the impact of an otherwise valid point.

clap clap clap

Listen to you, he was probably Pope and invented the wheel as well...

Am I exaggerating his accomplishments?

If anyone is guilty of puffery, it would be whoever is distracting via tangential nonsense.

A bit of a folk song version...and Jerry was much more involved.

The loss to San Francisco was to a gamey 49'ers team that had battled it out with the Cowboys for the entire decade up to then. They were not fortune hunters. It's a toss up whether even Jimmy would have won, after doing his Benedict Arnold routine and selling his own team out at a shot to become both a GM and Head Coach. Just the facts, for real...

Leave out the meat of the observation and then claim foul...even better, unknown language.

I'll tell you what, I'll send you a cereal box top decoder ring since it's so unintelligible for one.

Well, we've gotten 8 years of the dude and it is mostly the same thing. We see almost no coaching during the game from Garrett, if any at all. Last year Scandrick went right up to Garrett late in the Seahawks game and talked to him with Garrett staring blankly at him and said absolutely nothing. Just ignored him.

The dude preaches effort during the week and claps during the game. Occasionally he may get upset with the officials and talk to them. Oh yeah, he signals for 1 or 2. I think what people want to see is him coaching a little more. If he did that I bet the clapping complaint would have never surfaced.

There is no clue in tactics contained there. One either fights with numbers and location, or he defeats the principals behind them...as to tactics.

Opportunity for success isn't limited by a clock, but application of principals.

Honestly, I watch other teams and I rarely see coaches giving instructions on the sidelines.
OCs and DCs, yes, but HCs seem to watch and talk into the headsets.

I didn't say that as well...just defended what I did put out. I defend my words...I know you don't like the current make up of coaches. Acknowledged...by the way, did you see that the Cowboys' line is now in the hands of Colombo? That is huge, to this fan!!

Oh, and irony adds humor. Know what Waltons, backwards, spells? Snotlaw

To me it looks like Garrett is primarily there absorbing data to process for the next week.

I wonder if White has some inside info on the Joneses’ involvement and he’s taking up for Garrett.

When they closed Texas Stadium and had all of the ex players, he was very outspoken about how much uninvolvement Booger wanted from Landry’s players. I heard him on a sports talk show and he was really pissed about it as he had volunteered to help and was given a “thanks but no thanks” response.

Directions, during a financial crisis, was to break the recent line of history and connections with the old stadium location. Kind of why a rail yard was put into it's place. It wasn't directed at old players, and Manster personally.
