Still not a guarantee, but if this team finishes as poorly as they have been playing lately, say 6-10 or 5-11, Jerry probably can’t justify keeping his personal Tom Landry anymore, despite wanting to.

But...IF Jerry has to hire a new HC, based on his history and a weird psychosis about not having a HC that can outshine him, don’t expect some big name guy to be named.

Because for some strange reason, Jerry is intimidated by real football people who have had major success. Rather than hiring a HC that gives HIS TEAM the best chance to WIN, he wants to hire someone that gives him the best chance to feel good about himself.

I’m sure someone with some expertise in psychology could write a book on why this billionaire is so insecure and even petty about his credentials. So bottom line....if Garrett gets fired, don’t expect some big name coach with a history of NFL success as a head coach to be hired. And I wouldn’t expect an up and coming young star college coach like Lincoln Riley either. It will probably be another mid-level NFL Asst Coach few have ever heard of.

Too much star power makes Jerry uncomfortable and intimidated. And by now, we should all know his personal comfort has top priority over winning.

.....hahahah... spot on Bob. I've thought that also. Jerry wants to feel that he's competent in football, so doesn't hire anyone higher than his own football IQ..lol.. ......So sad, ...so sad.

Gosh I hope there is a second life. That way Jerry is gone and we get a brand new everything.

And so strange. Here’s a pro football HOFer who’s about as insecure as a pimple faced middle schooler. He’s got billions in cash but has little in the way of football kahones. If he did, he would hire the best people.

Even if Jerry weren't the owner I wouldn't expect a big name coach with a history of NFL success as a head coach because those guys are generally retired or already coaching a team. But I understand your basic premise. The ray of light is that Jerry did, at one point, hire Parcells, and of course, he hired Jimmy way back when, so he has hired strong, forceful personalities before. Whether he is willing to again is unknown. I think you are right that Jerry was hoping Garrett would be his own Tom Landry, but as you noted, that never materialized.

On top of that this new puppet will need to win with Dak. Good luck lol

Sooooooo, am I to believe Bill Cowher is out of the question then?

he still has about 494 other coaches to choose from, down from the original 500.
The reference to the “ 500 coaches “ by Jerry was actually related to that current back to back championship team.

Which Jerry was right about. Anyone including Jerry and Barry could win with that team. Unfortunately they left at least one more on the table.

First of all JJ would never hire him. He has credentials. Also- No way Cowher would ever leave his Cush million dollar TV job to play second fiddle to a football Carney like Jerry. Cowher was used to the Pittsburg owners- the Rooney family who always let their HCs run the football side.

Its the ultimate billionaire hobby.
Stamp collecting is really boring.

Jerry's ego is always the issue.

What's crazy is that if he hired a big name HC and they, oh my God, started really winning, the Cowboys would make even more money and have more publicity.
Jerry tried winning with a big name coach.

He didn’t like it and fired him after back to back championships because Jerry didn’t receive the credit he was looking for.
